Leaman's Green Applebarn in Midland, Michigan was a lot of fun for this Mom and my daughter on her preschool field trip! Their fun playground had slides, swings, a small corn pit and a petting zoo! They had a lot of photo op moments throughout that were super cute! They walked us through the orchard and taught us all about apples! They also showed us how they used to make cider back in the day and my daughter got to throw an apple in the chopper. We had one of their apple cider doughnuts and some of their apple cider, they were delicious!! read more

It was great for younger children. The entrance fee was a bit much especially for adults. There wasn't much for the entire family riding the hay ride, donuts and cider and petting the animals if you're into that. Wild Pumpkin Farm out shines this place 100%. They have a lot more to offer for the entire family and the prices are a lot better too. read more

Having heard about Leaman's Green Applebarn for years, we finally made the trip on Saturday. I was surprised, at first, that there was an $8 entry fee, but when we realized what was included (entry into the corn maze, hayride, play area access, petting zoo + more), I realized it was comparable to the orchards around us (if not more affordable). The treats/drinks seemed a little overpriced, but the store was lovely, the environment was friendly, and it was a really fun way to spend an autumn afternoon. Now this is the kind of quality apple content that I came to Michigan for. We visited the shop for one thing and one thing only; apple cider donuts. After doing a round in the building we realized that the register was not busy but there was a long line for said donuts. Maybe there was enough ready in the morning but now the shelves were empty! We waited for a good 10 minutes but it was so worth it! They were fresh out of the fryer and still quite hot, so we were instructed not to close the lid of the plastic container (else they'd steam). Those donuts were out of control good... definitely eat them outside because that sugar is going to go flying. A half dozen is $4.75, a great deal! The staff were doing their best to deal with the high volume of customers and were surprisingly friendly given the busy state of the place. There were other pastries available, both apple and otherwise, as well as preserves and tacky decor. We ended up with a half gallon of cider ($.95), a quarter peck of apples ($3.50 for what turned out to be 8 ranging from small to medium), and a slushy cider. The prices are very reasonable for what you get and the slushy was especially great! And even when it melts, it's still good. (: We didn't go into the orchard this time (it's just my boyfriend and I and we don't eat a whole lot of apples), but I'd like to try it with a group of friends sometime. Leaman's Green Applebarn - Fruits & Veggies Near Me - Freeland, Michigan

People acquainted with local apple orchards tend to fall into two camps around here: the Bayne's fans versus the Leaman's fans. We're definitely in the latter category. We like the fact that Leaman's is an old-fashioned working apple orchard/cider mill without a lot of the glitz and manufactured "fun" of bigger/more tourist-oriented apple places (some of which don't even grow their own apples). We're not looking for made-in-China faux country tschotschkes or a carnival atmosphere; just a nice fall-ride destination. Leaman's offers great cider, donuts and baked goods. (I love their little frosted sour cream drop cookies, which really taste like homemade -- you can't eat just one!) The cider slushies are great on one of those warm-ish fall days. They also have a nice "pumpkin" patch of various pumpkins and gourds that are a big hit with kids. You can pick your own apples if you wish; I think there are also farm tours for kids. If you're on the "apple tour," our household strongly suggests that, if you have to choose between the two cider mills in Freeland, you head off the beaten path to Leaman's; it's still very close to downtown Freeland and very easy to find. read more

We hoard the cider donuts whenever we come to the area and they are open/at the farmer's market. Gingersnaps (chewy) are great, too. I go for the food not the knick knacks. read more

Came out from Midland and had such a great time. There was a corn maze, apple picking, pumpkins, animals, playground for kids. My boyfriend and I had such a great time and the cider and doughnuts were some of the best I've ever had. The staff was friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend having an apple cider slush! I definitely want to come back again. I wish I would've heard of this place sooner! read more

We went to Leaman's today with three children in tow ages 12,10, and 6. Right when we got in our 6 year old went running toward the Frozen Cider cart. He jumped up and bumped the cart as excited 6 year olds sometimes do. We were about to get after him for running into the cart when the lady inside decided to ignore the fact that we were already reprimanding our own child and proceeded to yell at him. We apologized and moved on. We met some friends there. They also had their 11 year old son with them. The kids went into the mini silo filled with corn and were again talked to by the same lady for playing with the corn. Not long after that the same lady got after them for climbing on the hay bails, which is what they appeared to be there for. They were also told they couldn't run in the play area. At that point our patience wore thin as did that of our friends we met there. It's obvious that the lady marked our group from the second we arrived and decided to give us a hard time. We asked what the kids were actually allowed to do? It would've have been understandable had we not been there supervising our kids, but we were right there on top of them, and none of us thought they were out of control or doing anything inappropriate. We wouldn't sit there and watch them wreck things. We were given the chance to talk to a manager who told us that they'd had quite a few things broken recently in the play area, and kids over 10 weren't allowed on certain things. Had we known that prior to purchasing passes we would've gone elsewhere. We then witnessed two kids bigger and older than our literally playing king of the hay bails and pushing each other off without being talked to. Our kids then got on the tire swings and this time a different lady yelled at them. She said no one 10 or over could be on the swings. At that point we decided we'd had enough and we went home without purchasing anything further. Out of spite we went and purchased our cider and donuts down the street at Bayne's. We will never give Leaman's our business again and you can bet we will be telling friends and family about our terrible experience there as well. read more

We LOVE Leaman's. The staff is so friendly and it is such a wonderful family atmosphere. The cider is amazingly fresh (the cider spices for hot cider are awesome) and the baked goods are of the old fashioned kind like great grandma would make. Prices are spot on! Honestly the ONLY place I go with my family. Hands down the best apple barn around. My kids look forward to going there EVERY year. Now let's talk donuts. Most delicious, moist, amazing cider donuts I've ever had. We love the hay ride, the corn maze is actually difficult and worth while activity. Every year we live with a car full of apples, pumpkins, donuts, cookies, and hand crafted art pieces. Staff always has a smile on their face. I cannot praise this place ENOUGH. Don't be fooled by all the cars & school buses in the parking lot. If you are stopping to purchase a pumpkin good anything else do not waste your time or money. The kids play Land ($5 per person on Sat. & Sunday) is a joke and has not been updated-improved for a long time. The owners need to go to the local thrift store to buy some replacements toys for the big sandbox. Two-rocking children's horses are laughable and the riding tractors are minus a lot of wheels. Add the slides that are unsafe and the flys all over the baking area makes one wonder what people are thinking to continue to spend $$$ at Leaman's. read more

I took my grandkids there for a nice afternoon I was very disappointed. We went through the corn maze it was a joke, we tried the putt putt golf that looks to be well past its prime and needs a lot of work. The whole place is run down, we were going to try some of their baked goods but we watched them prepare the food and the kitchen had so many flies in it we decided against getting food, I know it doesn't bother some people but I can't eat food after flies land on it. read more
