"Le Studio" is a wholly unprofessional photography studio, and ultimately an utter disappointment. I have never written a single negative review before, but this was so bad, that it was shocking. I will explain why I feel that it is important to describe what made this such a terrible experience for us. I wanted to get my 11 year old daughter headshots, which is a fairly simple thing to do, but not only was this the hands down worst encounter that I've had with a photographer, it was also the most frustrating exchange that I have had in years with any business. First, "Lea" (who runs "Le Studio" ) repeatedly cancelled sessions, and when she did, it was without an excuse or apology. We actually traveled all the way to her studio for our first appointment, which we had confirmed by phone and I had texted her to reconfirm. She wasn't there. The studio (in Red Hook, though it says Carroll Gardens) was on a deserted street, and we had trouble finding it, only to call her to discover she had not bothered to show up. Still, we wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt and I understand that mistakes occasionally happen. However, even after that, whenever she rescheduled, she kept switching the times around, expecting us to be available at her beck and call. We wasted valuable time waiting for her to confirm multiple appointments only to have her cancel them at the last minute. The fourth time, she gave me a few hours notice on a school day to meet, even though that's tough to swing when dealing with a child's photo session . After putting us off for over a week, she then told us we'd have to pay extra to have a rush on the photos. When I questioned that, she then said she could'nt do it anyway because she had to go to Europe, leaving us high and dry after we had patiently waited for her to come through. She even said she could schedule something for a Thursday on a Tuesday, only to turn around and say she had to leave for Europe the next day. It was somewhat surreal dealing with this, and impossible to schedule anything with her that she wasn't invariably going to cancel. We wanted to hire her based on some positive reviews and she seemed nice on the phone. I am sure she can be competent when she wants to be. However, working with her was like trying to pull teeth and just as unpleasant. I would definitely think twice about booking her, especially if you need photos for children. No business should be so hit or miss, and I feel we were not only understanding but ,we also gave her one chance after another to pull through. Unfortunately, she ultimately left us scrambling to find someone else at the eleventh hour.There is no excuse for how she handles business, and no way of ensuring a positive experience. She is hard to get in touch with (she would text to cancel and then not pick up a call or get back to us for a few days) . She behaved as if she was doing us a favor when she did communicate. Even my daughter was confused and upset after getting ready to have her picture taken only to be dissapointed. . Throughout, Lea of "Le Studio" made it clear that not only did she not value our business or our time, but she also gave us no sense of security that she would follow through in spite of us giving her every opportunity to do so. The impression she gave was that this simply wasn't important to her and it left a terrible impression. We put our confidence in her and this was a mistake, and I would never recommend a photographer who can be so untrustworthy with any client. read more

We tried to call her, email her and text her for two weeks, but she never respond to us. Please be VERY careful about this business, I see others had similar experience as us.. I took my newborn for newborn portrait and had a wonderful experience working with Lea. She is very responsive, patient, friendly, and professional. I scheduled the photo shoot a night before, and Lea was very responsive and being flexible. When we arrived the studio, everything is ready. Lea prepared several outfits for us to choose rely and all of them are super cute! Although our baby was awake the whole time and hard to take pics with, Lea was very patient and did a wonderful job. Scheduled a headshot package with professional re touching for my mom back in January, the owner was very nice before hand and responsive and was helpful during the session. However, after you have paid and had your session she is extremely unresponsive. My mom had selected the photo she wanted re touched and the owner will not respond. Both of us have made numerous attempts to get in touch with her to get the service that was paid for. We re submitted the photo as requested and she still has not done anything. Her service is unreliable and there many other options for portraits in the city. This is the second Yelp page for this business and the original had negative reviews, clearly it was removed for a reason. read more

THIS BUSINESS IS A FRAUDULENCE. Our entire experience is a total disaster. We did a cake smash session with Lea. She was late for one hour for the photo shooting. After we finished the session, we paid her full amount in cash and she refused to give us a receipt. If you think this is already pretty bad, i would say this is just beginning of the disaster. Since the photo shooting, she never respond to our text message and emails about updates of the pictures and retouches. I tried to call her several times and left voice messages but she never pick up the call. However, I did notice that she is still doing photo shooting for others during this time, so clearly she INTENTIONALLY avoids our call. As a result, she took our money in cash, didn't give us receipt and didn't give us any pictures. I gave Lea a chance because one bad review doesn't define a person. However that one bad review defines her in a nutshell. When I was trying to book she was easily accessible. I started to get major red flags when on her website she claimed that she will waive the home visit fee for an infant shoot. My baby was only 8 weeks at the time and during the height of covid it made sense. She then said she was going to charge me the fee since that was there around the spring. I should have canceled the session there that shows she is not a honorable person. I had to book her out of desperation, all the other photographers were booked solid.Then she drops the night before its cash only and has the audacity to charge tax on a cash ( most New Yorkers would know I'm saying). I showed her several backgrounds I wanted the and she said it was no problem. Fast forward to the shoot I show her a picture from her website I really like she gets all huffy and said that was taken out doors she needed to get the leaves and I need to tell her in advance. I would have told her if she would have asked me which ones I was interested in from her website. We only discussed the Christmas ones she didn't have. The last backdrop I wanted she claim it wasn't on etsy (which It was, that's where I purchased it from) and that she will have to charge me $35 for it. The amount clearly said $15. Why were you trying to charge me $35 for a background that's $15???? Then she's like "I'm already purchasing 3 backgrounds for you". UMMM no it was only 2, one I picked from your portfolio you should have already had that in your file. On top of that after I purchase the digital background,she can use it for future photos on my dime. I was then told the pictures would be ready in 10 days on the 11th day I texted at 8 am no response, called at 4 pm avoiding my call and I sent an email she has yet to response to. The professional thing wouldn't be to ignore your clients and give them an update. After having my husband called we got the pictures but the second Christmas photo wasn't there. The package said artiscally retouched photos we only got 4. The last Christmas photo we received 4 days before Christmas and it looks TERRIBLE. I would be embarrassed to give someone that and say I am a professional. On top of that I only got 4 artists prints not the 6 in the package . She never responded to me after that and I doubt I am getting my prints. I would avoid this photographer at all cost. Not worth the $700 or the arggavation. read more

Working with Lea was an absolute nightmare. From the get go, she was terrible at responding to emails (this should have been a red flag). We booked her for our newborn photoshoot after seeing her portfolio on the website. Lea arrived 40 minutes late to our scheduled shoot. Our newborn was fed and ready to go but became increasingly frustrated as time went on. Also, the studio was not set up whatsoever for our shoot even though it was the first appointment of the day. Lea spent 3 hours on 3 poses and only took family pictures because we insisted she do so. This was not the end of the terrible experience. After paying her (she did not give us a receipt), she assured us that we would get our images on a DVD in 10 days. After 14 days we finally decided to email her to which we got no response. When we called her after over 2 weeks of no responses, she said that she had sent the dvd in the mail and that "these things get lost sometimes". She then told us she'd send us a link to our edited images that evening. NO link and no email. For the next 2 weeks we called and emailed her and she never responded. Finally, my husband had to show up to her studio to get our images. She couldn't even find the pictures on her computer and when she finally did my husband realized that none of them had been edited which means that she LIED about sending us the DVD of fully edited images. After all this she not only gave my husband attitude but also did not apologize for her unprofessionalism. Out of the 160 images we got from her (which weren't in RAW format) only a handful were usable and we had to hire someone to edit them for us. If you have a child, you know how quickly they change in the first couple weeks and we are so disappointed that we will never get to have amazing newborn pictures of our son. The only good thing I can say about her is that she gave us our money back. I would never recommend anyone to go to Lea for their newborn photos. read more

Lea was great to work with. When we arrived, our newborn was a bit fussy and Lea was very patient while we calmed her down and put her to sleep. We didn't have any specific poses or ideas in mind so I looked to Lea to suggest some as she is the expert and she knew exactly what to do. Her studio had many different props that we could use and we ended up doing 3 different outfits and sets of poses. The pics turned out great and we are very happy with them. The turn around time for getting our pictures back was very fast as well. I am having Lea retouch some of the images slightly and I'm sure those will turn out great. I had a wonderful session with my 1-year old daughter, husband and mother-in-law at Le Studio. The owner was sensitive, artful, and relaxed, which helped our baby have the stamina to pose for nearly four hours. A tense photographer would have transmitted discomfort to my baby, but this photographer made things fun and creative. We received an abundance of gorgeous shots to choose from and have made several prints which we are in the process of framing and hanging in our home. My husband is an artist and we are both aesthetically picky, so the fact that we had so many great choices was a big win. I have recommended Le Studio and would do so again. read more

I wanted to have maternity photos of myself taken so I decided on the mini session with Lea (photographer). I had a good experience at her studio. First of all, she's French so her sweet accent added to my experience. But with that aside, she was punctual, professional and assisted me with achieving the best poses. I saw her on Tuesday (12/6/16) and after the photo shoot she informed me that she would have my pictures available to me within ten days. Well, the following day the photos were in my email. I was pleased by the quick turnaround because I was not expecting to receive them so soon. You won't be disappointed by the results either. I have no complaints. The only bit of advice I can offer is that if you desire more outfit changes or a longer session then the mini session might not be the best option for you. For that you should consider one of the other packages that will allow you more time. When my babies are born, I will be returning to her studio. It was worth my money and time. read more
