We love owner and the entire staff is just super knowledgeable. You will love this place. Don't trip over some of the books. The place is not huge and those books have to go somewhere. I think it is important to support any bookstores still standing. As I have said before soon they will be gone. What a shame.

One of the best kept secrets in LA. What's going on in nowheresville (where Santa Monica Boulevard meets Highland in Hollywood)? Well, there's all-pink Trejo's Donuts on that corner, chaired by Hollywood mainstay actor and entrepreneur Danny Trejo. But head east just a bit and there's the white-with-black-lettering Regen Projects massive building. It's a huge contemporary art gallery! The space is just amazing, and the installations in 2025 have been nothing short of incredible. Check the website for gallery 'opening nights,' a who's who of art lovers and a chance to meet the artists her/him/themselves. There seems to be a new showcase about once a month. Known internationally as a launching pad gallery for emerging artists, it's a must-visit. Free! Sorry, no donuts allowed in the gallery space.

Kat (proprietor) and the other creative souls who put the space together did an excellent job. Simple white walls, good lighting and the historic architectural details give the proper attention to the creations, which was a mix of paintings, collages and pastels. Sadly, the exhibit ends on the 31st and I won't be back in Los Angeles until May. I would definitely check it out if you're in the Hollywood area of Los Angeles. From what I could tell from the outside, it's a very small gallery. And although they were closed, it was nice that they left the lights on to still enjoy through their glass windows. You could see the pieces that were nearest to the windows but aside from they, you'd have to be inside to see the other photographs.

Exciting new work by world class…read moreartists is presented in a gorgeously converted warehouse space divided into a large spacious main gallery and a smaller side gallery that was divided into two spaces for the Kehinde Wiley exhibition, Colorful Realm. This is the inaugural show at the gallery's new Mid-Wilshire location. If you're reading this prior to April 8, 2023, you should get out to see it! One of LA's most celebrated contemporary artists, Kehinde Wiley's series draws inspiration from the Edo period's Japanese nature paintings. Nine monumental paintings represent stellar examples of Wiley's work. The detail and brushwork make it apparent that these pieces aren't primarily crafted by the hands of his studio assistants. With a price tag of $750K each, I would hope he painted every stroke! Plus, raw linen comprises the monochromatic backgrounds that offer a precious lack of dimensionality, so no assistants required to prep that. It's his sixth solo exhibition with Roberts Projects. They're creating a catalogue that I hope to buy. Discovering Betye Saar's newly created assemblage by the water fountain was a treat. I drew great inspiration from her in the 80's when I was a working sculptor. At age 97, she's still making great work. Oasis, a re-creation one of her 80s neons also adds a nice touch. Roberts also represents artist/skateboarder Ed Templeton and an array of LA's finest talents. A library wall of gallery copies of catalogues and books about the artists are free to browse. Some are rare, out of print works by foreign presses. All that and friendly gallery assistants too. What more can you ask for? Well, LA, they even have a free parking lot! 5 stars.

This was my first time at the Roberts Projects and I visited specifically for the Kehinde Wiley exhibition- available for viewing until April 8, 2023. One large gallery space followed by an adjacent space of other Wiley art, his art is very distinctive & breathtaking. Entry is complimentary, they have clean restrooms and you can take your time as you explore the space. There is a beautiful Bettye Saar piece as you approach the restrooms. I posted on social media about my fun visit to Roberts Projects and three friends ended up visiting the same day! As an art lover I am glad I got the chance to visit & looking forward to future exhibits.
