Spouse and I went to dine last evening at La Verger De La Mer after reading positive comments on TripAdvisor. What a treat! We were warmly welcomed and seated by the friendly proprietress who remained calm, efficient, and unfrazzled while attending to all the tables. Her husband, and co-owner) is the chef. An amuse-bouche of delicious pâte was offered, accompanied by toasted baguette rounds. This was followed by fish soup Grand Marée for me and bay oysters for my wife. The oysters were served with a marvelously piquant dipping sauce; (the best oysters I've ever eaten). A bread basket was provided with another delectable pâte, this one redolent with garlic. Spouse ordered the lobster-stuffed pork for entrée, while I selected the thyme roasted lamb. Both choices were perfectly seasoned and cooked, accompanied by very flavorful sautéed mushrooms and potatoes (mashed for spouse and au gratin for me). For dessert, we shared excellent profiteroles. Since this was our first visit in Brittany, we decided to try a small bottle of apple cider, in addition to a nice chilled bottle of Loire Rosé. Our lovely dinner was very relaxing and nourishing thanks to the considerable talents of the owners. They really know how to run a first-class restaurant! read more
