My husband and I stayed here for one night on our honeymoon, when we stopped into Bardi to visit the castle (Castello Bardi).
I have to preface this by noting that our visit to Bardi was due to ancestral ties - my Italian ancestors are the Landi, who were related to branch of the Landi family who rules over Bardi (and the area) for 500 years, ending in the 1600s. I may have been more enchanted with Bardi that the typical tourist, but I can promise that this is a must-stop for the average tourist!
I won't get into the phenomenal proper medieval castle with private tour, or the truffle-topped pasta at Les Due Spade across the street here though.
Le Sei Dame is nestled at the foot of the castle, and has named its rooms after the famous Landi women of history, and has decorated its rooms to be fit for royalty - at least medieval Italian royalty! We stayed in the Maria Landi Grimaldi suite (yes, the Monaco Grimaldis). The room was adorned with a king size bed, white wardrobe/curtains/bedspread/chairs, and marble finishings. The bathroom was the nicest of our trip, with a deep-set spacious shower and bidet.
The proprietors were lovely and available by phone or around town. They also run the restaurant across the street.
Breakfast was included, and is offered in a room accessed from the street, just a few steps from the B&B. They set out a ridiculous spread, and we tried it all! The breakfast room also had an espresso machine, with easy-to-use directions, so we had cappuccinos on demand!
The only note about this B&B is it's not really accessible by car, so we rolled our luggage up the cobblestone street. But if you've spent any time in Italy, you'll know the best places are often tucked away like this! read more
