After waiting about 20 minutes on a hot day, I reached the counter to request the flavor of the day - cacao sorbet. I LOVE chocolate sorbet in general, as it tends to be rich and a touch bitter and not too sweet. The cacao sorbet here was more subtle and not as chocolatey-fabulous and others I've had, and I cook/bake with cacao so I know more or less what to expect. Unfortunately I made the mistake of requesting whipped cream on top. The cream was fine, but the ice cream artist applied twice as much Chantilly as there was sorbet, drowning it and throwing the flavor off balance. Oops. I just wanted a touch but was so surprised that I didn't stop her - plus I expected her to stop! I can't believe I'm complaining about too much whipped cream, but my expectations were higher. Oh well...

We returned a few days later early in the morning and met the owner, Melanie Roumanille, who taught us about the art of cheese making! They also have a great variety of local fresh products: eggs, spices, olive oil, and you can take some ice cream home. The prices are fair and the products are the best around. We had scallops avocado and orange salad, and salted cod with mashed potatoes, aoli, tomato coulis and vegetables. The cod was artfully presented. The scallops were perfectly cooked and the salad was lightly dressed. Each table is given their own olive oil, sea salt, balsamic mister, and pepper grinder to additionally dress salad or bread. Service is typical French, not hovering or rushing the diner. Price for the two entrees plus 25 cl. of wine was only 39 E or about $44.

It was expensive but worth the once in a lifetime cost. The scallop course was the best scallop dish I have had in life. We dined in the off season and it was cold and drizzly outside. They had a nice fire going in the fireplace for us. The dining room wasn't very busy. We were the first diner to arrive and our first coursed arrived very quickly. Once others started to arrive it slowed down quite a bit. At the end when were starting to tire, it slowed to a snails pace. (Speaking of which I also loved the escargot dish. I have never had them prepared this way and loved every bite!) That would be our only complaint. Otherwise a perfect evening.
