Defenetly not a restaurant for snowflakes.
This is a local restaurant, in a popular disctrict and you can expect to be yelled at if youy don't finish your plate (take it as a game).
The chef is certainly one of the best one I know in brussels: he will cook great LOCAL food and he defenetly know how to do it.
The ambiance is more than welcoming and very heartfully. Since the first time i've been there, the chef make us great meals: my wife love spicy food and he made her something very uncommon: spicy mussels.
He didn't kicked us out because we asked it (which i would understand regarding how unexpected the request was).
The menu is short and change day by day regarding of the market, and so the handwritten menu. Don't be scare to ask for the price before ordering anything if you want to be sure where you stand with your bill.
So, if you can make the difference between rough and disrespectul, ready to be kicked out because he's tired and you didn't book and, even if the restaurant look empty, it doesn't mean he "has to" receive you.
My advice, send a text message to book (please, do it in french, it's brussels) wait for his answer (that can take up to a day or two - be prepared).
Otherwise, if you expect being received as the king/queen that your mommy said you are (and you believed it) go to McDonalds, you'll be treated like a Duke. Or go "rue des bouchers" it's the perfect place for tourists ;-)
(I saw so many bad review of snowflakes that didn't even eat there that I had to make it right). read more
