A truly fabulous anniversary lunch -- every detail perfection!…read more We celebrated our anniversary with lunch at Le Parc inside Les Crayères, and it was absolutely fabulous from start to finish! Exquisite food, impeccable service, beautiful atmosphere -- and that stunning setting within the hotel just elevated the whole experience. When we arrived, they first seated us in the lounge area where we started with glasses of champagne. We ordered two glasses of Flora Debout and two of Billecart-Salmon Rosé, both of which were excellent. They served us a lovely selection of hors d'oeuvres to pair with our bubbly while we relaxed and looked over the menu. Once we were ready, they guided us to the dining room -- we got the best table by the window, and the room itself was absolutely gorgeous. The four of us chose the Plaisir de Table menu -- a five-course tasting -- though it turned out to be quite a feast since they include several surprise bites in between courses to keep things interesting. Our menu included Candied duck foie gras, John Dory filet, glazed Mallard duck breast, Farm Langres cheese, and Grand Cru chocolate from Indonesia. Every dish was flawlessly executed -- the flavors balanced beautifully, and the proteins were cooked to perfection. The bread and butter were also outstanding (and for me, that's crucial -- it sets the tone for the whole meal!). Service was attentive and polished throughout. Even though a few staff members seemed newer or in training, everything ran smoothly. Toward the end of lunch, they surprised us with an extra dessert and a candle to celebrate our anniversary -- such a thoughtful touch! At one point, the sun was streaming through the window, so I asked if they could lower the shades -- and to my amusement, they controlled this mechanized awning outside right from inside the dining room! It was such a cool little detail that made us all smile. Even the valets were wonderful -- warm, friendly, and eager to share a bit of the hotel's history and their current renovations while fetching our car. All in all, it was an extraordinary dining experience -- elegant yet welcoming -- and absolutely worthy of its two Michelin stars. Next time I'm in Reims, I'll definitely be back, and I'd love to stay at Les Crayères as well. With drinks, the total came to around USD $1,200, and honestly, it was worth every penny for such a memorable celebration.

There is a secure parking lot next to the lighthouse, but otherwise there is no real parking. If you park at the lighthouse, you will need to walk at least 20 minutes, some uphill, to arrive at the bar. The bar manager was 15 mins late, and rude when we went to check in with our reservation because we had a service animal with a valid doctor's note. He explained that it was clear on the website that no animals are allowed. We obliged because we had already paid for our reservation, and he was cutting the conversation off, saying, "I don't have the time to discuss anything further because I'm already late." Not my problem you are late to work. Also, I would like to point out that the man in charge of 'Perching Experience' had his dog running around. We were holding my small service animal, not knowing whose unleashed and non-collared dog it was, when the man rudely said, "What? Your dog can't walk?" While my partner went to take care of our dog I saw a duo who had been waiting since opening be turned away because the owner stated he could have max 10 people in the bar. In fact, we were only 7 people at the bar so there was space for them. Furthermore, the inside of the bar and the top view point of the bar were closed 'due to COVID', leaving only the outside balcony accessible. Having 1/3 of the bar closed, restrooms closed, one glass of champagne, and receiving no glass or offer of water, the price of 21 euro is absurd. With all these COVID measures, I found it funny that there was no hand sanitizer stations, and that the owner did not wear a mask. He stated he didn't need to wear one because we are outside, but at the same time he says no service animals and there is a dress code? After pouring everyone's glass, he left the bar and didn't return to check on anyone. We decided to stop wasting time at this bar, and left. The couple next to us had been sitting with empty glasses for 20 mins. We saw the owner when leaving and let him know that there were customers who might want another drink. He said, "yeah, yeah, I know. I was going to go." From one service industry folk to another, if you don't like customers, get a different job.

Nice view and so relaxing to sip champagne. Perfect place to hang around with your friends.read more

Our group of about 20 were happily greeted every morning with a delicious family style breakfast. It was always served with kindness, professionalism and grace. Château de Rilly was a wonderful home away from home. I will hope that I can visit Château de Rilly once again. Did I mention the exquisite grounds and sunsets? This is what Château de Rilly does to me. The staff is the real star here. From the moment we stepped inside each and every staff member did their all in making us feel welcomed and taken care of. They helped us with dinner and winery reservations, recommended bars in Reims and set us up for the bike tour we did on our own. They were friendly and relaxed making us feel very special. The room was on the smaller side when compared to American standard but average size in European measures. The large bathroom containing both a tub and a shower made up for the smallish room as we were two female friends traveling together and we all know women like their sink and counter space! The rooms feel somewhat newly renovated but still manage to display old charm with some antique pieces and old style design. I do believe there are larger rooms on the 1st floor so make sure to ask when you make your reservation. Breakfast was not included in the room charge and you could choose from continental or full breakfast (18 EUR) with a wonderful spread of bread, pastries, home made jams, scrambled eggs, sausages, ham, cheese, fresh juice, locally made yoghurt, pancakes and coffee and tea. All served in the beautiful dining room lined with large windows overlooking the grounds. We tried sitting outside the first morning but noticed quickly that the wasps were very keen on our food so we had to go inside. Unfortunately we never had dinner here but we did enjoy some cheese, smoked salmon, salad and a local blanc de blancs the night we arrived. All was exquisite! There is a jacuzzi and sauna in the basement for everyone's enjoyment. I would have loved an outdoor pool but you cannot have everything I guess. Accommodations are not super cheap but it does not break the bank either making it a perfect luxury vacation getaway. This is a super strong 4-star. I applaud Chateau de Rilly for the outstanding service contributing to our fantastic experience and I will be returning for sure!
