My review is really based on vinyl records as that's what lured me in. The shop is very clean and neatly organized. They had some nice new arrivals plus several bins of rock, jazz, classical, and whatever else in between. I found one record I wanted, but a few others I already had that I otherwise would have grabbed. Prices were pretty fair. They also carried CDs, but no cassettes. Of course they have lots of books and nice area to sit and relax. Cool spot worth checking out for a little browsing.

Even when I said I wasn't necessarily looking to make money, just donate to a place I like, they told me that taking my books would "burden" them... Even though that's what this place is for, selling and buying used books! I went to a bookstore further up Mont-Royal who took them. I certainly understand that they couldn't take all of them depending on the value, but it was really their dismissive and quite rude attitude that took me off guard. Not sure I'll shop there again, unfortunately.

The clerk piled some serious attitude right on me, while I was with my baby daughter no less, and kicked us out for having the audacity to ask about a top-forty album on vinyl. The shop was pretty easy to find. Parking was a lot less of a hassle than in the city. The owner was very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The shop is relatively small, but there's lots of bins too dig through. It's also very organized and clean. Although there wasn't a ton that caught my eye, I did grab a hip hop record I wanted. The worst experience I've ever had buying from a supposedly established shop. Avoid at all costs!…read moreI was an international buyer for an item that I now do not believe the shop had in stock any longer, if they ever had it in stock in the first place. Rather than just refund me the money the owner delayed admitting anything wrong until over a month later. If I hadn't chased it up, I don't know what would have happened. I placed my order on February 23rd and received an order confirmation from the shop's website. The shop charged $13.45 for shipping on top of the cost of the record. On 12th March, having received no notification of shipping or any other communication, I wrote to the shop asking for clarification. The owner replied stating the item had already shipped two weeks previously. I questioned why I'd not received a notification, and how long it might take to receive the item. The owner stated he didn't know how long I could expect to wait, and rather brusquely stated that there was no tracking number with the shipping method I chose so there was no way of seeing how far along the delivery was. The owner's tone throughout our exchange was brusque and rude. At this point I was faintly suspicious that something odd was going on, but I was content to wait for another week or so. On March 24th I received an automated message from the shop's website stating that my order was 'finished processing'. I wrote to the owner again asking why this message had just been sent to me when the record had apparently been sent a month previously. The owner said it was a mistake, and he simply hadn't updated the system at the time. Again, I was suspicious. On 5th April, having researched Canadian Post fees for shipping, I wrote to the owner asking why my package had not yet arrived. I stated that the fee for air shipping is only $12.15. I asked for proof of postage. The owner replied that he had contacted Canada Post and they told him they had lost the package! He said he was sorry and I would have my refund on the 13th of April (in 8 days). I replied asking how they could have known such when there was no tracking number. I queried his story, and once again asked for proof of postage. I asked why a refund would come within 8 days, and not immediately. I stated that the exchange had changed and that I expected a guarantee to receive the same amount of money I spent. The owner finally replied showing a refund processing, and with the following message: 'No stress at all we're not a scam we're just a small business who made an error have a great day we hope you'll find the record you want' Obviously this hasn't helped at all. Finally he's admitted an error - but I still have no idea what that 'error' was. Was it taking my money when there was no record to sell? Was it lying about posting it and keeping my money for five weeks? I'm going to lose out on (an admittedly small) amount of money on the exchange rate having changed. I could have bought the record from multiple other outlets selling it in the UK in the interim period (it's a limited release, and now sold out). I'm sure as a brick and mortar business where you can see what you're paying for they're fine, but I advise anyone buying internationally to be very aware when doing business with this guy - oh, and his shipping rates are $4.50 higher than the actual Canada Post rates. Scalping in this way is awful business practice. Still considering reporting them to the Quebec Consumer Protection Office, though I doubt they'll do anything.

The one employee was at the register the entire time. He was polite when we checked out, but didn't bother or interact with us otherwise. We were in Burlington last week, and decided to drive up to Montreal for a couple of days. I heard that End Mile was the "artsy" neighbo(u)rhood, so I assumed that the record stores would be a good opportunity to "ooh shop" (what my mom used to call stores where you could look, but not touch, because the items were out of our price range). Turns out their new records were reasonably priced (about $25-33 Canadian). The selection of used records wasn't vast, but it holds its own. And the hip hop section was surprisingly extensive (relatively speaking). It took me on a journey through childhood, featuring pre-Death Row Pac, Kool G Rap, RBL Posse, Tribe Called Quest, etc. And their selection of Nigerian, Turkish and French music was impressive (relatively speaking). And their classical section wasn't garbage (that's usually where most record stores are lacking). I love this place. To my dismay, I didn't have room in my luggage to take anything with me, so next time I'm in Montreal, I'll definitely be buying out the store. Au revoir.

In general, the pricing is reasonable/average, but there is a section in the back that is also posted on discogs and it is on the high-end. It's certainly good stock (I got a really nice and clean rocksteady comp from the early 70s), but it made me wonder how much everything else was down there (note: those records weren't labeled with prices.)
