I have never given a negative review (of anything or anyone), but this is absolutely deserved:
I ordered a record on vinyl on DECEMBER 6th 2015 for my partner for Christmas. I realize I left HIS phone number to be contacted when the record came in, and so on December 14th I phoned back and asked for MY phone number to be contacted when the record arrived, so as to not ruin the surprise Christmas present that I would be picking up upon my return to the city on January 2nd. That is the FIRST reminder to order the record. I left the city for the holiday and returned on January 2nd. At this point, I told my partner I ordered this record for him, and he was delighted and excited for its arrival.
My partner and I went into Oblique when they re-opened on the 4th of January, 2016 to see if the record was in, and I was told it was not. I asked WHEN to expect it, and I was told the record labels were closed over the holiday, but it would be in the following Friday, January 15th. Shouldn't this have been ordered BEFORE the holiday? Remember, I went into the shop on December 6th, and PAID for it. I decided to give Oblique the benefit of the doubt, as I understand the record comes from a European label and the holidays are busy and things can fall through the cracks. So even if it was not ordered, that was the SECOND reminder to order the record.
I hadn't heard a peep from Oblique the following week of January 11th - 15th, and so my partner went in on January 15th to pick up the record. Alas, the owner looked told him, "did I call you?, no? Then it is not here." Fair enough. That was the THIRD reminder to ORDER the record.
The following week January 18th - 22nd my partner called to see if it was in. Nope. That was the FOURTH reminder to order the bloody record.
On January 28th, my partner was in Phonopolis in the Mile End and inquired about the record. They had one copy in store. Curious about how long it took to come in, my partner asked the staff how long it would take to get another copy. The staff said the record was carried by a local supplier, which meant they couldn't guarantee they could get another copy within one week but absolutely they could within two weeks. And here we are, waiting since December 6th 2015.
Life got busy in the first week of February, and finally today (February 9th) I had a chance to go into Oblique to see if it were in. NOPE!
The owner looked it up in his book, on his computer..... "Sorry" he muttered, and handed me my money back. IT HADN'T BEEN ORDERED!
THIS IS THE REASON PEOPLE BYPASS BOUTIQUE SHOPS AND BUY SHIT ON THE INTERNET! I prefer to support local business, but Oblique? I won't waste my time read more
