The pizza was wonderful and it's irregular shape proved without question that it was made by hand. The lemon aperitif was delicious and after splitting two deserts my kids were angling for a third. A wonderful very filling meal for 4 for under 30 Euros. And to the sad, slightly tipsy woman who explained that she had tried for years to have children but could not and who was so effusive in praise of our little ones.... Thank You. It had been a frustrating night and it was good to be reminded how temporal those aggravations are and how lasting are the joys of a good wife and loving kids. For breakfast the owner went out every day and bought our bread and breakfast, then prepared it for us. Great wait staff! If am ever in Argenton-sur-Creuse again I will happily stay here and dine here also.

The hostes is really nice, and speaks slowly in French, and teaches you some useful things about the language, the menu and What type of drink will compliment the food. The Food is exquished, and typical French! They present everything with love and sophistication.

The restaurant is quite intimate with an interesting variety of art on the walls. There was an option of two menus with a variety or choice on each. We opted for the pepper steak and fries...and the many courses it came with. First they brought out the selection of cured meats, then the main course, followed by the the selection of cheeses. The steak was cooked perfectly. I ordered the chocolate mousse for dessert with a coffee...a perfect end to a great meal. It was a very positive food experience and happy to recommend Relais des Matherons if in the Celon area of France.
