    Escargot

Found this gem in Chamonix through tripadvisor and I'm so glad we checked it out. Didn't have to make reservations ahead of time, but we did arrive near opening time, so restaurant wasn't very busy yet. Ordered the escargot, foie gras, t-bone veal, and sea bass w/ scallops to share. Escargot came with 12 pieces, way more than I expected! Also came with some bread that went well together. The snails are lathered in garlic and olive oil with a nice chewy texture similar to clam. Foie gras dish had a duck paste, duck liver, and some baked stuffing. The duck paste was so so, but the duck liver was perfect. So soft and fatty, it literally melts in your mouth. Also, it's not super rich so your stomach doesn't hurt after eating it. Alternating bites with the stuffing and foie gras really helped bring the flavor out. The sea bass dish came with 2 scallops on top and 2 filets. The scallops are lightly seared on outside and perfectly cooked throughout so that it's still moist. It had lots of flavor and was a pretty sizeable piece. The sea bass was also seared while retaining the moisture. The sauce and vegetables really completed the dish. The t-bone veal was tender and soft. Parts of it were pretty fatty and that tasted really good. Dish wasn't too rich either, so it left me satisfied without an aching stomach. Service here was relatively slow. Dishes came out slowly, which I think is the style in Europe. Entire meal took about 1.5 hours and there was only 1 waitress for the entire restaurant. All in all, I loved the meal here and would love to come back.

They were able to squeeze 2 of us in as a walk-in and had a wonderful meal. Off the beaten path a bit so it's nice a quiet.

Here are a few few things we noticed: - When I made the reservation, I had seen a picture in Yelp that made it look like the outdoor seating was in a front patio but beware because that is the patio of another restaurant and the entrance to Atmosphere is next to it. While it was comfortable inside, specify the outdoor Terrace if at all possible because that is along the river and is very beautiful. - My wife ordered from one of the two fixed price menus, but I decided to order à la carte, which is definitely more expensive. - My wife started with the Alpine salad, which was very delicious. I got the French onion soup, which is supposedly one of their specialties, but I just found it average. - For a main courses, I got the beef tenderloin with seared fois gras... it was amazingly! My wife got the hotbox cheese and liked it well enough. - For her, the highlight of the meal was probably the blueberry tartlet. I got a trio of sorbets which were also very fresh and good. - Service was very very good. And the atmosphere is cozy and warm inside. Bottom line: Dining at Atmosphere was a great way to start our vacation!

This whole trip excited about food eating in not only France for six days but last two in Italy. Le Monchu the exterior has moulin rouge vibe from the colors, vibe, and maybe perception being in France. The outdoor patio is huge. It perfect swathe be outside enjoy blessed look in skies mountains Mount Blanc around u. The menu is pretty daunting at first. It decent size it both in French and English. Lot of the times reading description of each one. I ended up going with goat cheese salad and carbonara pasta dish. The goat cheese was refreshing from goat cheese nice hearty salad. The pasta nice creamy plus egg yolk mixed it in was heavenly. Heavy dish with all cream and egg yolk but filling. Raclette. That was star of the show. I got try bit from someone else. Start the presentation was wow! I never seen anything like that before in life. The whole charcoal tower, quarter of Raclette cheese rind, beautiful spread of deli meats and more together with cheese, and move cheese close to tower it melts cheese on plate. It was amazing! If ever go back to Chamonix and hills of Mount Blanc. Le Monchu be back!

I would absolutely recommend eating here if you staying in the Chamonix city center and you are looking for a French cuisine with all the traditional favorites. The price is good too! Each individual entree is about 25 euros, house wine is 9euro a glass. The multi course dining prefix is around 35 euros. Fine food for an affordable dining price. This was an excellent dining discovery for us after a long day hiking in the mountains.

That being said, the burgers here are really good! We tried: The hash brown poco loco - this burger was so hefty! But also pretty decent. The hash brown made it stand out, so if you get the regular poco loco, I assume you get a pretty standard burger. Definitely not bad but nothing special in terms on ingredients. However, I really liked the bun! The outside was thicker and crispy without feeling stale. And the inside of the bun was still soft! Frenchie - this burger was my personal favorite of the two. Same compliments for the bun, but I loved the combination of the cheese and honey for the toppings. It was the perfect amount of sweet and savory. The fries and onion rings were both really good as well. The fries were really crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and salted generously. And the onion rings were pretty typical. One thing I wasn't a big fan of was how long our order took just because we were waiting on the fries which took forever. But they ended up upgrading our fries to a medium for the trouble, so no complaints here!
