The hostess was beautifully dressed in traditional clothing and was punctual to our needs. I had the Tom Yum Seafood Soup as an appetizer which was followed by a Chicken Coconut Curry as the main course. The food was cooked to perfection and the fresh herbs really hit the spot. My husband had a duck dish that was delicious as well. We shared two scoops of coconut and mango ice cream to top it off. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is wonderful. I recommend trying Sou Kho Thai.

The restaurant is understaffed with far too many tables crammed into the dinning hall. The service…read morewas abysmal and the waiter was rude (which is saying something for Paris). Vegetarian offerings were almost non-existent and the server tried to get my boyfriend and I out of the restaurant as quickly as possible, even came so far as to start folding up our napkins and resetting the table before we had even stood up to put our coats back on (and there was no one standing waiting to take our table!) I live so close to this restaurant I was hoping it would become a new favorite spot, but after the mediocre food and terrible service I will never come back.

What a pleasant surprise we had this evening (Friday, August 10) when we wandered into this…read morebeautiful and quiet old section of the 9th arrondissement and discovered this very nice (and very reasonably priced) new (2 months old) Thai restaurant. The owners and staff were extremely gracious and attentive; they were very warm and helpful (and understood English). The food itself was fresh and the portions bountiful, but most importantly, each dish was delicious and beautifully presented. We started with the chicken thai rolls (served with a fresh sprig of mint leaves to wrap them in with lettuce) and had the basil beef (with sauteed vegetables on the side) and the ginger beef. The flavors in each dish complimented each other beautifully and the meat was tender and the vegetables crisp - it was just a delight to eat. I do hope that this restaurant is discovered and does well so that I can enjoy another dinner here the next time I visit Paris.

I tried to visit the less touristy spots, but apparently this is hard to come by in Paris. Then I went to Spirit Cafe and had a very authentic French/Thai experience. My husband and I stumbled across this place on a rainy day wandering through Paris. We went at lunch time and seemed to be the only tourists in the entire place. No one spoke English, which I appreciated! We are in France, after all. In the US, I love Thai food and eat it regularly. I have my favorite dishes and so does my husband, so we thought it'd be interesting to see the difference in the interpretations of typical Thai dishes. They did not have an English menu, so I could only understand about half of what they offered, but did my best to order what I thought would be good. While the dining experience was slightly confusing (I don't speak the greatest French...), the food was delicious! I had some sort of vegetable spring roll to start, and a tofu curry as a main. I don't remember the appetizer that my husband ordered, but he got fried rice as his main. Everything we ate was freshly prepared and flavorful, and slightly different than the Thai food we experience in the US, but still very good. I'm sure that if I tried to find this place again without the help of a map, I would be lost. But the best part of travel is discovering hidden gems off the planned schedule... that is not listed in the English guide book. Overall, very pleasant experience.

We came across to this cozy gem of a restaurant by chance, tucked away in Montmartre. So glad that we stopped by! The staff were friendly and welcoming. We ordered Phanang Beef, Green Curry with Chicken, Vietnamese spring rolls, and a side of sticky rice which came in a cute woven bamboo container. Phanang Beef with sticky rice was my favorite! So flavorful and delicious. Vietnamese spring rolls wrapped in fresh mint and lettuce were also fantastic, especially with a bottle of Singha beer from Thailand. :)

It's difficult to find a purely Thai restaurant in Paris (usually they are a bizarre mix of…read moreChinese/Vietnamese/Thai) but the menu at Wassana is soley Thai, and it's pretty tasty. I'm originally from the West Coast of the U.S., so I am used to Thai restaurants with a broader menu than you'll find at Wassana. But due to the unfortunate dearth of Thai cuisine-only restaurants in Paris, I'm giving Wassana 4 stars since I consistently have good meals there and every dining experience has been a pleasant one. (By the way, you need to pay at the front counter when leaving.)
