We ate here on a Sunday night. They were able to squeeze us in and I was very appreciative. The waiter spoke pretty good English and the menu is translated into English in the back.
We started with the foie gras appetizer which was well executed. The chef also sent over an amuse bouche that consisted of a creamy gazpacho and a parmesan bread slice. The amuse was also quite nice and we both enjoyed it.
For the main course, I had the lamb with spices. It was a long braised lamb shank served with eggplant, tomatoes, and a bread crust. It stood out as one of the best meals I had while I was in Lille. The spices were delicate and did not overwhelm the flavor of the lamb. It was an exceptional dish, balanced, and composed. It is also one of the cheaper items on the menu but don't let that dissuade you. It was much better than the beef with the foie gras ravioli. My husband had that dish. We were both intrigued by the ravioli and wanted to try them. They were nice, rich, but generally well done. The beef was equally well done. It was tender and cooked exactly to specification (medium rare). The only misstep (which was a bit of a big one) on the beef dish was it was overly sauced. The sauce drowned the vegetables and swamped the dish. It took a dish that would have easily been top notch and moved it into a middle range plate. It was a bit frustrating because if the plate had been sauced on the side, the entire experience would have been far far better.
In total, the meal here was excellent and well worth it. We enjoyed the experience and were pleased by the overall meal. read more
