All of it is true - only understated…read more This Chateau (formerly Hotel Chateau Layauga) has changed hands quite a few times but Michelle & Jean, the current owners, have been here for a few years and really done a tremendous job rendering the establishment into something outstanding - both on the culinary as well as the hostelerie side. Grounds are well kept and beautiful from the duck pond and fountain in the garden, to the hotel itself, even to the tennis courts. Rooms have wireless internet. Michelle is British and Jean is French so worry not about communications. Lastly, if you plan to go wine tasting, call Michelle for help IN ADVANCE of your coming. She was very helpful in setting up visits. In summary, one of the best places to stay at and to eat in the region.

I was alone but with bike and found it a very bike friendly place. If all you want to do is go to vineyards this may be a bit far afield but if you are interested in a bit of coast as well as wine this is great. Highly reccommend.
