After seeing a couple of negative reviews pop up a few hours before we went for dinner, our…read moreexpectations were low. Our experience was quite enjoyable however. Our waiter was very energetic and friendly. And he hustled--covering a lot tables, but with no patron left behind. Our order went in quickly and the meal was paced well. We ate inside and the atmosphere was lively though not overwhelming. The food was good, not great. We both had the Quiche Lorraine and then parted ways on the main course. One trout over sauerkraut and one 7 hour veal with vegetables. Both were tasty, no complaints. Just not 5 stars. The desserts were really good. Mille Feuille with fresh vanilla and Crème Brûlée with bergamot. Great finish to a nice meal.

Finally! A place in Nancy with WiFi, outlets, a relaxing atmosphere, and GREAT customer service…read more The coffee was good and affordable (1,70 for a long) and I got the iced tea, which was peach Lipton (2,40 ?). They sell some food, sandwiches and salads and such, and beer, although you can only buy it with food. (Maybe so people don't get drunk and rowdy?) Whereas I would sum up most customer service in France with the infamous Youtube line, "Honey badger don't give a shit," the ladies running Taverne du livre were very nice and professional. There is a moderate selection of books (all in French), nice coffee shop-esque music, and we did several hours of work there.

I went to Kensington two times during my trip in Nancy. The first time I got a pink lemonade which…read morewas pretty good. It's nice to know some people remember that pink lemonade was originally made with strawberries and was labeled "pink" because of it's color after the strawberries were added, not that you can just color lemonade pink and pull it off as 'pink lemonade'. It was a bit too sour but I guess I could have gone back and gotten some sugar. The second time I got a mocca frappe which was suppose to be a frappacino styled drink. Maybe their definition is just different from what I'm used to but I expected it to be blended and iced but it was sorta.... cold and fluffy. It was alright but nothing special. On the bright side it's the only place I can think of in this area that makes coffee to-go in the plastic cups I'm used to back home, yay! So if you're not looking to sit at a cafe for an hour and chat like the rest of France, this isn't too bad of a place to grab a cup of joe.

My wife was a server so she waited until she saw our waitress to ask what happened as we had been sitting there for 45 minutes since ordering. The woman behind the counter never turned our order in! Are you kidding me?! Barely an apology and no offer of compensation: just "It'll be ten more minutes." We left. Absolutely awful in every way.
