Welcome to A la Civette and the oldest tobacco shop in Europe. This place goes back some 300 years…read moreif I recall correctly. It is centrally located across from the Royal Palace Theater and many Government Offices of France. It is no wonder A la Civette can count many well known and historical persons among its patrons, some of whom come a long distance to purchase their cigars here. This does not mean they only cater to such folks. Everyone is treated well and to the knowledge of the staff. Upon entry, one sees the array of cigar accessories displayed all around. Step further inside and you will see the humidor behind a locked door. At the time I was here, the selection was still suffering from supply chain shortages in the Spring of 2023, particularly for Cubans. Instead, the gentleman pointed out cigars we do not see often in the US: some Aladino Eiroa lanceros, Bentley torpedoes, and their own house blend robustos. Price points were not a sticker shock. However, if you are interested in fine spirits to match your sticks, they have a nice selection of liquors to the left in its own room with a tasting table or pedestal in the middle. I sampled a few bottles and settled upon two Cuban rums. For Americans, this is a great place to pick up some Cuban cigars and rums! Again, the gentleman proved to be most gracious and knowledgeable. This is a four and a half star experience and you can expect to be treated as well as or better than any cigar shop you have visited. It is not a lounge, but there are great lounges in Paris in which you can enjoy your fine smokes.

Don't be fooled by the cute exterior and stylish young patrons within. Appearances are deceiving…read more This neighborhood bistro and dive bar in the Marais is more dive, less bar. We were served really watery salad and repulsive wine. The wine tasted like powered grape drink mixed with rubbing alcohol. The haggard server scurried around and dumped plates on tables, dismissing any patron concerns with a wave of his hand. We later learned that this place actually had been a beloved local spot until a fire and an belabored insurance settlement forced the original owner to lose her cafe. Well, the new owners certainly don't do much at all to win back customers.

En effet, situé juste en face du Port de L'Arsenal, ce bar-tabac permet aussi de capter les ondes fluviales que dégagent les bateaux de plaisance amarrés en bas. En plus, le patron est sympa...
