We (party of 4) arrived without a reservation on Sunday at 1pm. The chef owner is super friendly and he was at the reception desk. He gave us a table and he and 2 waiters served us. They all speak enough English to serve, but their food menu is very creative and descriptive, they did not have enough vocabulary to explain exactly what they were in English.
My husband translated to us and we ordered.
The course menu I chose started with Amuse Bouche, Camambert Cheese Panna Cotta, Pumpkin Soup and Raw Salmon with vinegar sauce. Then first dish for me was escargot in croquettes with pumpkin puree. Then Trou Normand ( palate cleanser in Normandy) was apple sorbet with calvados. My main was Ham Hock in crêpe with mushroom sauce. The fat( maybe even collagen) and the crispiness of crêpe was something I had never experienced in my mouth.
They offer a spectacular cheese choices on the cart, but I chose Pavlova to end our meal. All beautiful plating.
Full of locals.
It is a bit off the beaten path, but we recommend it highly. If this restaurant existed in the US, it would definitely get discovered by Food Guide Book. What a gem!
We found it interesting how the owner chef loves chatting with guests and grill meat on the grill in the dining room fireplace. He went around taking orders, grilling meat at the fireplace and made lots of jokes with guests.
I think the lunch course took about 1.5 hour because we did spend 15min discussing the menu. Not their fault.
