The chef owner is super friendly and he was at the reception desk. He gave us a table and he and 2 waiters served us. They all speak enough English to serve, but their food menu is very creative and descriptive, they did not have enough vocabulary to explain exactly what they were in English. My husband translated to us and we ordered. The course menu I chose started with Amuse Bouche, Camambert Cheese Panna Cotta, Pumpkin Soup and Raw Salmon with vinegar sauce. Then first dish for me was escargot in croquettes with pumpkin puree. Then Trou Normand ( palate cleanser in Normandy) was apple sorbet with calvados. My main was Ham Hock in crêpe with mushroom sauce. The fat( maybe even collagen) and the crispiness of crêpe was something I had never experienced in my mouth. They offer a spectacular cheese choices on the cart, but I chose Pavlova to end our meal. All beautiful plating. Full of locals. It is a bit off the beaten path, but we recommend it highly. If this restaurant existed in the US, it would definitely get discovered by Food Guide Book. What a gem! We found it interesting how the owner chef loves chatting with guests and grill meat on the grill in the dining room fireplace. He went around taking orders, grilling meat at the fireplace and made lots of jokes with guests. I think the lunch course took about 1.5 hour because we did spend 15min discussing the menu. Not their fault.

We didn't notice that they close their lunch service at 2:00, which is when we went in, but Chef Thierry Ramard offered to seat us if we would be happy with ordering only a main course. We were. Chef Thierry waited on us himself and surprised us with an amuse bouche consisting of two separate items- a sea bass mousse and a chorizo based mouse with chopped vegetables. We ordered the chateaubriand for two. We were seated in front of a huge fireplace which also doubles as a grill. The chef cooked that beautiful hunk of steak to perfection and served it atop a mixture of vegetables, and set it all off with a morel sauce filled with the mushrooms. The wine list was extensive with some reasonably priced selections among upper end wines. We were not rushed to finish our meal and were given a warm goodbye when we left. I wish we could have tried it for dinner but we found this on our last day. Next time.

The menu was posted out front in both French and English, which leads me to believe that plenty of American and British tourists stop by for a meal before their own D-Day tours. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming, and she got us seated promptly. We ordered what we thought was a bottle of rose to share, but it turns out we actually only ordered a single glass. Our mistake, really. We should have brushed up on French before our trip. The patio was lovely and we had a great view of the cathedral. I ordered the croque monsieur sandwich, and it came out in a timely manner. It was actually a lot of food and looked great. The inside was hit or miss however. It was unevenly heated and there were cold sections in the sandwich, which was kind of weird. The breakfast potatoes however were piping hot and delicious. Maybe my sandwich was a one off. the menu is large and varied so there should be something for everyone. If you're looking for a solid meal, especially before a tour, La Manufacture might just be the place!
