I had a grog, which was hot lemon, maybe a little ginger? maple syrup or honey and definitely rum! They serve hot tea as well. I was drawn in the other day by the amazing house band, The Balkanic Orchestra, I believe. See videos - they were awesome! I've heard other jazz trios and amazing live performances. They have a selection of Belgian beers and Brooklyn and Proper Job Cornish beer. My Cornish side said to have that but I stuck with Tongerlo Belgiun trappist beer. They have wifi but I didn't get much out of it. I think because they were streaming the music for the bar. Bar staff very relaxed and told me about the music but generally quiet. Good place to lose yourself after 3pm when it its too hot to move.

A chalkboard menu displayed the available appetizers, entrees and sides of the day. Some items were sold out and crossed off on the busy night we were there. I had the steak and fries. My steak was served quite rare and very buttery. That night through the next day I actually got quite stomach sick but I'm not sure it was food related. (Minus one star just in case!) The dining experience was so lovely under twinkly lights and open air. I came here another night when it was an open air dance party with a DJ. So much fun!! The beers were served in pitchers with different flavorings like lemon and orange. I was skeptical as I'm not a big sweet alcohol fan - but it refreshing and light. There is a large beer garden style area with umbrella covered tables and chairs for chatting and relaxing. The service at the restaurant wasn't the most pleasant, but the bar staff was very nice. The atmosphere and the view are certainly worth checking out. Happy to be introduced by our local friend to such a wonderful gathering place.

We thought sure perhaps we'll check it out. We then end up renting bicycles and cycling along the river and we stumbled upon the guingette. It looked so lovely that we decided to come back a little later. We're so happy that we did because we had a magical evening. It was such a lovely experience even to just sit and watch the couples pair off and dance. I wished I knew enough French to join in on the lessons! But even just sitting there and drinking wine and enjoying each other's company we had a great time and it was one of the most memorable experiences of that trip. We even discovered a new song/artist that now when we listen to, reminds us of that evening.

Serving meals all day every day, The Celtic is an ideal place to pop into for a beer, snack or for an evening meal. With seating both outside and upstairs, it's good for group entertaining. Beers and wines are plentiful (Leffe, Hoegarden, Duval and local types sitting comfortably alongside better knowns such as Stella and Guiness!) but suprisingly, The Celtic serves a wide range of alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktails, presented in a strangely tropical and extravagant way that even Del Boy would be proud of! Delicious, and well worth trying, especially the one featuring Papaya and Bacardi. Food wise, the ommellettes are filling (mushroom and fromage a favourite) and the pizzas thin, crispy and delicious.
