Witches Chase Cheese had so many delicious varieties of cheese for sale that we stood in the store for about 15 minutes trying to choose just one that we wanted to try! We ended up going with a garlic and rosemary goat's cheese fraiche and some fresh bread and oh my gosh it was delicious. They sell the fresh baked baguettes along side the cheese which is very handy. Can't wait to head back here and sample some more of their cheesey wares.

Witches Chase Cheese specialise in hand made cheeses. Gosh they are good! When I went, my partner and I opted for a goats cheese fraiche and some fresh bread (that you can get when you buy the cheese, by the way) and it was just amazing. There are a number of cheese available, many of them award winning, fresh, soft, blue and hard cheeses. Take a look around and ask for a taste to help you choose. At the back they also offer some hardware and other local treats including some interesting looking honey varieties. On site there is also a restaurant, and you can do cheese tours. It's also the site of Mt Tamborine Brewery if you fancy a bit of a drink when you go. It's a lovely location and the staff seem to know what they're doing. Go for a drive and grab some cheese and wine and have a lovely romantic picnic. Inexpensive, romantic and enjoyable. I think we'll be back.

We came across Fromart several years ago when the Blackwood Street Farmers Markets first started in…read moreMitchelton. I was immediately drawn to their swiss cheese stall as having lived in Switzerland for several years, was missing my favourite staple cheeses from this time. Fromart actually supplied the real deal and for those first few months after discovery we would jaunt down to the markets to pick up a range of cheeses from mild Tilsit through to my absolute favourite, Appenzeller. Alas one sad Sunday morning we rocked up to find the stall missing. Fortunately a google search soon after directed us to their website and we've been happy mail delivery customers ever since. Both the imported and domestically made cheeses of Christian are exceptional. If you are used to the bland supermarket varieties of cheese you will find a world open up to you like no other food experience. There is a depth of flavour and kaleidoscope of taste sensations to these fine cheeses that leaves one wanting to come back time and time again. Christian's cheeses range in price from $45 - $50 a kilo but can be bought in 500g lots. The cheese is then generally cut into 200-250g blocks which you can choose to have either wrapped in cheese paper or vacuum packed. It is delivered well cooled once a week, for those of us in Brisbane, on a Wednesday morning. I would recommend starting with some of the sample packs if this kind of cheese is a new experience. They offer taster packs for less than $20 to $47 which are a great introduction. (Personally I love my Jura Mountain, Swiss Appenzell and Gruyere Classic. Christian's own Devils Foot Cheese is also superb.) Although postage of $15- $25 is a bit extra on top of the cost of the cheese, we find buying every 2 months or so keeps it in check and still very affordable. Yes it is more expensive than buying cheese at Woolies or Coles, but I can assure you that once you try this incredible cheese, you will find it worth every cent of price difference.

A dollar or two extra here and there, but hey, these days it all adds up. Where you can buy a massive mango for $2.99 (not on special) at regular fruit shops, they sell the same looking massive mangoes at $3.99 and it's on special. Do you get what I mean? But shopping here does have its perks. First of all, it is a store stocked full of high quality deli produce. Fresh fruits and vegetables as well as many items imported from Europe, mainly Italy. They have my favourite crisped baked pita bread crackers with parma cheese infused into it. It's delish with fresh dips! Or if you feel like shortbread, there are some hand-made short bread made in Wendy's kitchen available for a handsome sum of $7.99 a bag. It is a small bag with about 5 shortbreads, pretty exy me thinks! But the taste is amazing. These gorgeous shortbreads literally melt in your mouth. Other great food they have include; a variety of expensive cheeses, deli meats, sealed fresh quiches, pizza's and tuna mornay, a selection of imported biscuits, freshly made yogurts, premium olive oils and plenty more. If you are after a real foodies shopping experience, this place ticks all the boxes. It may not be the place I go to stock up for my weekly groceries, but it is a fabulous little shop to go and splurge and invest into a premium quality food, once in a while.
