I have stayed many times at The Grand Monarque when travelling to Chartres with work and often I…read moreend up just eating at their brasserie. The food is always delicious and kept in a French, yet modern style. There are always something on the menu that makes me curious - like the beet root carpaccio I had last year. You can really tell that a lot of heart and soul goes into making the food here. The restaurant has a winter garden ambience during the colder months and is open air during summer. Staff is generally friendly, but could be more attentive (not sure yet if this is a French thing ;-)) and do NOT, I repeat, do not wave your hand to get their attention - you will only be ignored more. Attire is a little dressy here - I would say smart casual (put on that blazer or high heels and lipstick - you will fit right in)
