I was soon comforted because Güntherska Hovkonditoriet was so cool, I knew we would be back soon. The salmon/baked chèvre/lemon/honey salad I had on our first visit was so tasty, we came back within a week and both ordered it. The salads are pricy at 165kr. But each one comes with plenty of bread, mineral water, a coffee (normally 30kr!), and a choice of one of their fancy dressings. We loved the "herb aioli" and "garlic" dressings. I might have put the salad dressing on my bread by accident, but I can tell you it was tasty there too. Heads up, they won't let you upgrade the coffee to another drink, but nbd. Aside from salads, we tried two custards and a latte that were amazing. Atmosphere-wise, Güntherska is that old classy-casual style that's popular with fika spots. Like striped wallpaper and ornate lighting fixtures. It's also a popular "seat yourself" place. They request that you find a seat before you order. It can be tricky, but it's worth it. There's more seating in the back, and even more in the outdoor courtyard in the back. We've had such good experiences here, it's hard to try other places!

From the sign at the corner of Strandvägen and Laurentii gränd pointing us in the direction of the cafe, I knew I'd love it. At the front entrance is a charming doll (Tant Bruns?), and then it opens up into the most charming outdoor cafe (there is some indoor seating that is also adorable). A very sweet staff member came out almost immediately with menus, and we wanted everything. They have pastries and sandwiches and coffee and ice cream (there were a few girls sharing a banana split not too far from us). We got a couple of cappuccinos, a Sigtuna donut (turns out that a Sigtuna donut is pretty similar to a US glazed donut, only way better - that lamination in the dough made it fluffy and light), and a lox open-faced sandwich. Full of charm, do not miss a stop at Tant Bruns if you're in Sigtuna!
