Brionne is not a destination, as it is a small village (pop: slightly over 4,000) without any…read morespecial attractions around. But, if you have to stay overnight in Basse-Normandie (for example, for a wedding - there are many châteaux around that rent out for such events), this auberge is a very good place. Rooms are basic with dated décor, but they are clean and comfortable, with sufficient amenities (kettle, etc). There's no fans, so it could be stuffy in the summer. The dynamic owner, Mme Depoix, is a most charming hostess, and speaks perfect English. The restaurant is highly commended by critics. We didn't have the opportunity to have a meal there, but breakfast is very good, with fresh bread and excellent local products (cheeses, jams, etc).
