We stayed in this Best Western Hotel in Boppard after a stay in Mainz with fantastic restaurants. After seeing the two Yelp reviews on the Le Bristol I walked around town and got the impression pretty much the restaurant scene was typical German food so we settled on Le Bristol. We enjoyed our 3 course dinners. My wife's "cattle belly" appetizer and my pumpkin soup were definitely 5 star. My main course was lamb ragout which to my mind came overcooked and in a heavy brown sauce; perhaps, that is the traditional German way, I don't know. I would say the entry was 3 stars. My wife ordered a veal, ham goat cheese dish. I really can't judge that as it not something I would have ordered. Our deserts were five star. The menu invited diners to ask for something else if they didn't see what they wanted on the menu, but we didn't ask. Perhaps, the chef would have been more inventive if we had asked. My impression is that the chefs are skilled and cutting edge on the appetizers and deserts but afraid of alienating their core customers (older German tourists) by being too inventive with the main dish. The breakfast buffet was everything you could ask for. The wait staff was very friendly. Their English was not fluent but quite good and good enough that with patience one could learn about the entre options either listed or not listed. My advice is that if you don't want typical a typical German entre, ask. read more
