I have been frequenting the Bistrot for over 6 years now, because it's just a stone's throw away from our family flat that we stay at every time I'm in Paris. Upon entering, it's a bar where locals come to drink and watch matches on the television. Towards the back is the restaurant, which evokes a very relaxing and homely atmosphere. The lighting is dimly lit, and various shades of red pervading the room. The bar and restaurant is frequented by the locals, and it's refreshing to not be surrounded by tourists.
They offer an impressive menu full of hearty selections. It was here that I had merguez for the first time. For those not familiar, it's an amazing red, spicy sausage from North Africa. I encouraged Lumberjack to try it, because it's one of my favourites every time to come to Paris. The service is always friendly and welcoming. Between the two of us we shared lamb, merguez, couscous, and a variety of roasted vegetables. It's exactly what we needed after a full day of travelling. The meal was fresh, tasty, filling, and moderately priced. Overall, it's a good relaxing and tasty experience if you're in the neighbourhood.
