I've been visiting Bright every Easter since I was three and one (read several) visits (a day) to Le Blanche ice creamery (or to us local folk the ice cream shop) is a must. Around this very busy time at Bright there are generally a few curious beings scouting the front of the shop by opening time at 10:00 am and opening hours extend past 8:00 pm over the Easter period. The staff place fridge magnets of the chosen 40 flavours out the front of the shop which changes as they finish each tub, the aim is to get in there when you see your flavours posted as they won't be there for long. Consequently constant walk pasts are necessary and boy partner has been seen to mutter 'going in' about 5 minutes post eggs and bacon when his unusual flavour combination of lemon and caramel appeared for the first time in our trip at 10:30 am. The rest of the fridge magnets sit behind the counter and they staff are very forthcoming with times and dates of the appearance of your greatest hits. My personal favourites are apple pie - with real crushed apple pie smashed into their homemade icecream, pecan pie - ditto, cookie dough and pavlova. While I opt for the heavier options laded with cream and kj, Le Blanche specialise in beautiful fruity sorbets, all homemade on site. Banana, every berry you can imagine, pineapple and lemon are some of our family's favourites.
Their ice cream is very different to that you would find in an Italian gelati store, that smooth creamy texture is punctuated with offerings of fruit, biscuit, nuts and it's spectacular - perfect Australian ice cream treats. read more
