Thank you Yelp for helping my friends and I find out about Le Pichet!…read more Holy fondue! When we arrived in Annecy we were determined to find a fondue restaurant since that is what the region is notorious for. We were a party of five and we were quickly assisted when we arrived. There is indoor and outdoor seating available for you to choose, but we opted for a table inside just so we wouldn't have to wait. The patio was pretty busy when we arrived. The staff was super friendly and were happy to speak english with us. We did a total of three fondues for the five of us. We ordered two fondues of one type and then one of another, so they combined the two portions into one pot. I think it was the perfect amount for the five of us. It's kind of hard to gage how much to order and whether it will be filling enough or not when it comes to this. To complement the cheese we ordered some side dishes like small house salads and charcuterie boards, just so we weren't eating only cheese. The house pitcher of wine is cheap and delicious. Someone in our table ended up ordering a bottle of wine they didn't end up liking and spent a couple of euros on it. This was some of the best fondue I've ever had and would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to have a local delicacy in Annecy. Cheese lovers will adore it.

I came here for dinner with friends without a reservation my first night in Annecy. Le Freti is…read morelocated in the historic part of Old Town and have been around for decades. The highly regarded restaurant is a sought out destination for many who are seeking traditional Alpine cuisine. Their menu is extensive and features a variety of fondues and other alpine classics that use fresh, unpasteurized, raw-milk farmhouse cheeses from local alpages and artisans. The restaurant itself has a warm atmosphere, with a rustic-tavern style design that contribute to an alpine feel. We ended up sitting outside and really enjoyed it. The service was good, efficient, and the servers do a good job helping guests navigate the menu. I would recommend getting a reservation in advance. We were lucky to get a table as walk-ins with no wait, but we noticed that a line started forming during our meal for other walk-in parties. Le Freti is known for their signature dish La Brisgotte, which is traditional Savoyard fondue that is served directly inside a large, hollowed out warm, crusty loaf of bread. We knew we had to order this when we arrived as it was too unique not to. All of opted for the Savoyard Brisgotte which included white wine, 12-month aged Comte, 24-month aged Comte grande reserve, tarentaise cheese wheel, and matured emmental, served with salad, cold cuts, potatoes, and potatoes wrapped with bacon. This was by far one of the most impressive and delectable things I have ever eaten. The fondue was absolutely amazing, with so much rich, savory flavor. It was perfectly luscious and paired perfectly with all the accoutrements. The bacon wrapped potatoes were a delight, but the prosciutto was also very good. The loaf of bread it came was also very good and we enjoyed ripping pieces off and putting the fondue on it. I will note that in order to order any of their fondues, a minimum of two people must order it at the table. The three of us ended up splitting the two person fondue and we found it to be plenty for all of us. To round out this fabulous meal, we ordered the Chocolate Melt which was essentially dark chocolate fondue served with marshmallows and fruit. This was rich, smooth, and just divine. We ran out of marshmallows and fruit before finishing the fondue and manager was kind enough to give us more marshmallows--an example of their excellent, attentive service! I also enjoyed an Alpine spritz with my meal and it too was very good, would recommend. I cannot say enough good things about this whole experience as it was one of my favorite, most memorable meals of the summer! The food was absolutely amazing and their signature La Brisgotte is certainly worth the hype and praise. The fondue was excellent and everything that came alongside it was delicious as well. I enjoyed the chocolate fondue at end and thought it was the perfect size. The portion sizes are very generous, the prices are justified, and we left feeling full and completely satisfied. Alongside the amazing food, the whole experience from the service to the atmosphere is also phenomenal. If you are in Annecy, this should be at the top of your list for fondue--it is totally worth it.

If you do not speak French no worries - you can scan for an English menu and the waitstaff is also super helpful in explaining the options. We loved Annecy!…read more There are so many beautiful restaurants tucked into alleys. Le Lila's Rose is beautifully decorated and close of our hotel. We came in here and were seated outside which is exactly what we wanted. It was warm, but too not hot and alfresco dining was perfect! We ordered a kir which is made with crème de cassis and champagne. It was a bit too sweet for my liking but still good - I finished it! My husband had the Aperol Spritz which was perfectly made! The perch meunière wasn't exactly how I pictured it but it was good! Lightly fried and served with fries and green salad. The veggie pizza was just good. I saw that lots of other patrons were ordering cheese fondue. We had just eaten the regional specialty for lunch that day - the tartiflette (potato casserole) so I was all cheesed out! Food wasn't great but the ambiance was wonderful. Just being in Annecy was super!

Our waiter was very friendly and nice. They had lots of fondues, pizzas and meats available, my parents got their barbecue meats that you cook yourself on a hot stone plate. The experience is very fun and similar to korean barbecue but not as smelly. The meats are not marinated in anything but they give you two dipping sauces: aioli and a tomato-y mayo sauce. Since their menu is not 100% in English, I wasn't sure if it was priced at ~19€ per person and the portion is fit for two people. But how we ended up interpreting it as was 19€ per person but you have to get two portions. When the food came, I think the 19€ price was meant for two people portions. I recommend clarifying with the waiter, some speak English! That 19€ also comes with fries and a salad. I ordered the dish of the day which was some sort of stew with chicken, ham and cheese - it was delicious with bread and only 10€!

They also have outdoor seating, but it was raining that day. The lady that took our order was friendly and patient with us and also gave us recommendations on food. We got pizza, pasta, and tartiflette with a side of salad. It was our first time trying the tartiflette, and it looked like it was a popular dish among the other guests as well! It is a French baked potato dish with potatoes, reblochon cheese, lardons, and onions. Highly recommend this if you've never tried it before! Everything was pretty good; however, the whole time we were dining, there was a very strong odor that was really unpleasant. I'm not sure what exactly it was or where it came from but it was a mix of cigarettes, food(?) burning, and other smells. I'm not sure if it was just this particular day, but if I'm back here, I would either sit outdoors or take food to go. The area is in a beautiful location with lots of people and their dogs walking around restaurants, cafes, and shops.

One was pasta (little square pasta) with ham and lots of cheese. The other was potato, cheese and ham. This one has a LOT of cheese, a little too much, but was ooey, gooey and tasty (though hard to eat it all as its rich). Ordered a few salads which were nice and light. Generous portions. Many people around us ordered the beef or salmon tartare which looked so good. If I had a do over, would have ordered the salmon tartare as it looked incredible fresh and it seemed like every other table ordered it! Pix coming!
