We had him come in 2 days a week to handle our bookkeeping and provide monthly financials. As time went on the relationship was great but I soon found a huge disconnect between what he was reporting and what our operations were reporting. It was a constant battle to get the information correct. This was due to him not fully understanding our business and also our operations not communicating all the info to him. We decided it was time to hire an internal controller after having Vince for over 3 years. After time we started to realize how messed up our financials were. We asked him to do major corrections in our AR while he was working with us but we found out that it wasn't being done. Recently after months of fixes we are now have a solid Accounting Team. The separation wasn't the best after we told him we were going to hire someone internally. His contract states that we need to give 30 days notice and that he would work until the end date. My new controller had a very hard time getting info from him and he wasn't as proactive as he used to be because he knew we weren't going to do business anymore. We also talked about hourly rates changing also a few years ago but he never put it in writing and just started charging it on our invoices. I guess it was my fault for not looking at the invoices closely when we were paying them. We recently asked for AP invoices and receipts that he was collecting in 2015-16. He said he didn't have the data and that he dropped it off when he was leaving into our payroll room but nobody was there. All of our employees said there wasn't any documents to be found anywhere or evidence that it was in the room. Now we are in an audit with the BOE and they are requesting these documents. I'm not one to go on to Yelp and write a review. I think overall Vince as a person is a great guy when you are working with him but the relationship is definitely different when you leave him and I found a lot of mistakes from his company after we dug more into Quickbooks. I hope this was helpful for everyone to make a judgement call whether they want to work with Abacus Accounting Services or not.
