Lazerpig - if I could give this place a rating based purely on the name, and the neon sign out the front with a pig shooting lasers out of its eyes then certainly I would do it. Mind you, giving a place a rating based on a pig shooting lasers out of its eyes would defeat the purpose of rating something, especially if the service was terrible and the food horrible. Well, it turned out that this was certainly not the case. The service was top notch, and when it comes to making pizzas, this place certainly makes the well, and in the tradition sense as well. Expect Italian (and American) style pizzas, as well as a few experimental ones to round out the menu. Oh, freshly cut chips, and some pretty cool craft beers and you certainly have a place that if well worth spending some time at, even if it just the pig shooting lasers out of its eyes. read more

Who's your favourite pig? THE LAZER PIG! You know a place is good when your family creates a catch phrase about it. And you know it's really really good when there's a song. Yup, we have one of those too. "Lazer Pig, Lazer Pig, PIG PIG PIG!" This is a super fun place that suits rowdy groups of friends and families having dinner and has a little bit of something for everyone. The decor is what I call "grandmotherly pub-dive chic" and really sets the scene for a night ahead. Come early for $10 margarita happy hour, or settle in for a night of craft beers and beautifully made pizzas and side dishes. There's often someone playing records in the front bar, complete with disco ball and smoke machine which is great fun for any kidlets that happen to be with you at the time. Miss 4 loses her mind if the smoke machine is in action and carves up the dance floor with her best moves. As well as great pizza we usually order salads, the fried whitebait and on occasion the very good fries served with house-made passata. It all comes out relatively quickly, though expect service delays when there's not enough staff on the floor. read more

Laserpig is pretty different to any pizza joint I've been before. It's got a great pub, an old school Italian feel restaurant and they have live music at the weekends. I went on a Tuesday and was very excited to get some pizza all up in my face. Low key house music played in the background and the venue was pretty busy. The restaurant was fully booked and when we arrived there were only two free tables in the main bar and two outside. My friend and I were on the hunt for great pizza with a gluten free base option due to a severe allergy my friend has. Lazerpig, we were told, was the place to visit. As I walked in, I was impressed by their bar. Not only was it beautifully laid out (an oval shape) but the back bar was large, tall and filled with a good selection of booze that seemed to range from super accessible to high end. I opted for a pint of Coldstream apple cider from VIC at $11 (yes - an actual pint!!) and my date had a fresh coconut at $6. We sat at our high table by the bar which was donned with a wonderfully cheesy red and white checkered tablecloth. Our pizzas arrived and I was bloody impressed. They were huge. I had a Queen Margarita and my mate had a gluten free Mary Had A Little Lamb, sans cheese and we shared a zucchini carpaccio salad on the side. (When I first try a place, I like to go simple because if they can't get that right, they probably can't get the fancy stuff right) The base was think and puffy at the edge but super thin in the middle. It was saucy and there was just enough cheese. The tomato sauce was rich and thick, I wanted to eat with a spoon. It begged to be paired with cheese and I really wanted to try the pastas, in hope the sauce was used on that too. Hands down, that gluten free pizza was the best gluten free pizza either of us have tasted. I don't eat it very often, but I couldn't tell it wasn't he usual base. The lamb was super moist (we are assuming it was roasted shank) and the garlic base complimented it perfectly. The salad was fresh, crunchy and light. The flavours of zucchini, rocket, chilli and Parmesan worked so well with the pizza. I was in the heaven! Lazerpig has 100% cemented its place on the top pizzas in Melbourne list and I cannot wait to come back! read more

Yes it's a pizza place, it's a pub, it's in Collingwood and there are bikes upon bikes locked up out the front. So what makes this place different to the rest? Well, walk in to the dining area and you'll find a disco ball the size of Saturn spinning over your head and hard electronic music blaring over the speakers while you eat, yet somehow it still had a very just-at-your-local-pub vibe about it... Different enough? After moving tables various times (we thought it would be nice to sit next to the fire but then realised that we were almost certainly bound for a bad case of meat sweats and so moved to a more appropriate window seat) we started with the antipasto plate that featured a selection of cured meats, cheeses, pickles, olives and some outrageously good sourdough. We devoured it down quick-smart all the while sipping on our pint Temple Brewery Bicycle Ale and a glass of Allie Pinot Noir. After much debate and assistance from the very helpful wait staff, we decided on the Paul Kelly pizza (though the Prawn Fraser and Fun Guy will definitely be first in line on our next visit). The Paul Kelly is otherwise known as the Pork Belly and is insanely rich as a result... but also insanely delicious. Lazerpig is definitely a people-pleaser in regards to their delectable menu and excellent staff, but the weird tunes will definitely put a few people off... Lazerpig is split into a bar and a restaurant and even on a Sunday evening it was quite busy. It is on the corner of an otherwise quiet part of Collingwood. Lots of free parking nearby. Square tiny tables for two inside. They have a large silver ball hanging from the ceiling. Loud jukebox styled music. Drinks list had the usual beers and wine with 5-10 cocktail items. I went straight for the margarita which does not come in a margarita glass but is quite tasty. It is known for its pizza i guess as they do pizza delivery and this became quite obvious when a pile of empty delivery boxes fell on my dining companion's noggin. They only have one pasta dish - penne pasta and a lasagna dish. Limited in salads. They also do burgers. Go figure. ..We went straight for the Mary had a little lamb pizza which was quite good despite its burnt edges, had scant pieces of slow cooked lamb and feta but was rampant with olives. The arancini balls were quite bland. Not cheesy and had a slight thyme flavour. Chilli oil is provided on your table but no salt or pepper. Very difficult to get staff attention. Quite noisy. I felt like i was telling towards the end of my meal. Pizzas are in the 19-25 bucks range which i think is slightly expensive but then again I wouldn't know as i barely ever go out for pizza. read more

I knew I had really fallen for Lazerpig when I throwing back a pretty decent slice and drinking a giant goblet of red at 3pm on a dusky Saturday arvo and having a ball. The first time I went to Lazerpig it was at night with a huge group and there was loud funky music playing and frosty pints galore and a very good vibe was floating around and everyone was stoked. It reminded me of the kinds of bars I used to frequent in Portland Oregon: Not a pub, not a bar, not a restaurant, but a pretty styling amalgamation of the three. Next visit was at the awkward hour of 3pm and it was just me and a friend, hungry and craving pie after a few pints at a nearby pub. We grabbed one of the red and white checked tablecloth covered tables by the window with a view of wintry Collingwood outside the picture windows. There was a big fire going in the back fire place and some really good red wine and it was just cosy. Lazerpig is versatile: Party central in the evening and sedate, atmospheric drinking/snacking spot in the arvo. It's pretty great. Oh, and the salads are killer. read more

First things first: Lazerpig - What a cool name. I mean I can't help but remember that scene in The Simpsons movie, where Homer's holding Hairy Plopper and singing Spider Pig, Spider Pig, does whatever a Spider Pig does....Alright 'Nouf said. I went there with a few mates for dinner a while back and we had a great time. It's in a great location just off Smith Street in a cool part of Collingwood. They have a bar where you can grab a drink and hang out while waiting for your table or your friends to arrive. Their menu focuses on Pizzas obviously and they do it very well too. I had the Prawn Fraser and it was really good. They also what-looks-to-me like a mean cheeseburger and they also have a fish of the day. As far as entrees go, you will find a range of options under their AntiPasto section. To quench your thirst, they have bottled beers or on tap, wine and really good cocktails. Enjoyed lazerpig. The pizza was really fresh, good offer of toppers and the bases and cook time were perfect. Staff was alright, it was pretty busy so they were tough to get their attention but it was a Saturday. 4 ppl shared 3 pizzas, one fries and an antipasto to start with 2 bottles of wine. Ended up being $47 pp - I guess that's ok for pizza on a Saturday night? It's tough cause I had been at Joe's Shoe store before dinner and enjoyed a wine (better list and better prices) where you could get a just slightly smaller pizza for $15. The only thing is that this place has an identity crisis. Is it a bar with a smoke machine and lazers? Is it an Italian trattoria with red and white check tablecloths? The pizza here is fantastic! We tried the broccoli pizza and added prosciutto. The crust was puffy and crispy with a slight char. This pizza had the perfect amount of topping. We also tried the special entree which was fried chicken with a chilli dipping sauce. This was good but not exceptional. Could have used some salt and the sauce could have used some kick. The service was great and although they were busy - they squeezed us in without a booking. I thought the prices were OK considering the quality of the food. Ordered 2 pizza's from Lazerpig for home delivery via Deliveroo. Gave 90mins advance notice for the delivery time. Arrived 30mins late and not even a hint of warmth to the pizzas and they were burnt on the bottom. Great crust but very sparse fillings. Ham and pineapple with almost no pineapple to be seen. Might be a place to avoid for home delivery. read more
