MD's in general do not understand my system and it is very reassuring to have someone who can understand and support my health.

She had prescribed a pharmaceutical medication, that unbeknownst to me at the time, I was becoming addicted to. I had never been addicted to anything before in my life, so I had no idea what was happening to me. When I went to her in physical distress, she said she can't refill the meds or help, and sent me to the Southside of Tucson to a hole in the wall drug rehab place. I walked in and walked right back out. Instead of telling me this is addiction, let's make a plan to titrate you off the meds, or refer me to a pain management doctor, she bailed. Less than a week later I received a letter from her dismissing me as her patient. While I hold no ill will towards her, IMO, this was unprofessional, a violation of her oath as a doctor, and a cowardly refusal to accept her responsibility. I had not prescribed this medication for myself.

She is a fantastic health care provider, when we talk, I actually feel like I am being listened to. She doesn't just ask the standard questions, she digs for things and goes beyond the typical "standard of care" we have all come to expect. (checklists, "blood pressure, weight, ok see you in 6 months" kinda thing) over the last 15 months, i've gone through 5 or 6 GP doctors, but each time I call to set a new appointment, they are always "no longer working there" or else I dont feel like they actually care about my health. When I heard that Candice was opening her own practice, I got SO EXCITED! because now I have a GP that I already know, trust, and can depend upon. When you call her office, you speak to a real person - not a machine. I can honestly say, she is unlike any care provider that I have ever had. 10/10, if you're looking for a GP, I recommend calling and requesting her to take you on as a patient.

Let me preface my review of her by…read morestating that the office she worked at was very difficult to get an appointment in; she took way too many patients; in fact, one of the reasons I left her office was because it would have been a year before I could get in to see her for a standard physical. Also, even if you did manage to schedule an appointment with her, it was still no guarantee of getting in to see this doctor; I think I saw her maybe twice out of five times I was scheduled to see her; regardless of your appointment, expect to be late the rest of the day because I was never seen on time (sometimes I waited as much as an hour and a half after my appointment to see a doctor). One good thing about her is, she is not patronizing. However, she does have certain characteristics that classify her as a quack in my book. One time I went in because I was experiencing vertigo whenever I stood up; instead of checking my blood pressure, she sent me to an ENT because she thought I had tumors in my ears. After my hearing test came back normal, ruling out ear tumors, she sent me to a neurologist. The neurologist had the sense to check my blood pressure; it turned out that I was experiencing vertigo because my blood pressure would drop by ten points every time I stood up; it turns out I had flushed the electrolytes out of my system because I was drinking too much water. Another time I was experiencing nausea; she immediately jumped to the conclusion that I had esophagial pre-cancer and wanted me to have an endoscopy done. Her colleagues in the office she works at are no better; I went in for a urinary tract infection when I was seventeen I developed because my teachers would not allow us to use the bathroom during class. It was only the second time I'd had a UTI, yet one of her colleagues, Dr. Finkelstein, wanted to have a test to check my kidney function. There are far better doctors out there; I strongly suggest not giving any who work in this particular office any business if you can avoid it.

A few years ago I was experiencing the type of discomfort associated with heart disease. I was able to see her within a few hours. She did an EKG and detected a slight abnormality. She referred me to a cardiologist and helped arrange for a next day appointment. The cardiologist repeated the EKG and did not see any problems, but ordered a catheterization that did reveal a problem, and was treated. No doubt she is laboring under endemic problems in health care: demands for carrying too many patients and minimizing minutes per patient. If we spend too long in the waiting room it is probably because she is spending more time with patients and giving them the attention they need. Relax, you will get the same benefit. If you are lucky enough to be added to her patient rooster, count yourself fortunate.

Unfortunately, she moved her office and is now part of TMC One and things are not the same. As my primary physician, I visit for annual physicals and the things that pop up from time to time. My specialists take care of my diabetes control and related concerns. In mid 2015 I scheduled my annual physical and waited several week to be fit in to the fray and was given an appointment in June. Days before this appointment I started having strange stomach issues and they resulted in an emergency room visit. Happily, I knew I was vising Dr. Iveson within a few days, and would be able to discuss it. Once at the appointment Dr. Iveson told me she did not have time in her 15-minute increment based schedule to address my current issue and the physical I had waited so long for. Instead, she said I needed to choose what I wanted to talk to her about. While I should have walked out then, I stayed, concerned with what was going on with my stomach and shocked I would have to choose. I left, rescheduling my Physical for the next available appointment, in DECEMBER. Just this morning I was heading into my appointment scheduled for 9:30a. As I was driving in, I encountered a traffic stoppage on Houghton Road, the only direct corridor into town from Corona de Tucson. I called the office 40 minutes ahead of time to let them know that I may be 10-15 minutes late for my appointment. The very nice receptionist put me on hold saying she needed to talk to Dr. Iveson. When she returned, she said that Dr. Iveson didn't want to "short change" my 30 minute physical by fifteen minutes and felt it may be best for me to reschedule. Again, married to her fifteen minute increment plan rather than shifting a waitng patient ahead of me and letting me fill in when I arrive. Now, I was late, and I fully accept this. I also understand that the keeping the schedule benefits the following patients. Even though a waiting patient my have been happy to go ahead of me in my temporary absence. And while this may seem on the surface that she is concerned about "my" care and wanting me to have my full time with her, the recent track record shows a complete dedication to her fifteen minute "herding" of patients. It is a true shame that Dr. Iveson is more concerned with the mighty dollar and keeping the herd moving than she is with taking the time to work with the patients. I reluctantly dissolved my patient relationship with Dr. Iveson this morning. It is a true shame. I have been a true fan.
