Whatever you do, do NOT make this clinic your "go-to". Our family doctor is in here, but it's almost impossible to book an appointment with her. Oh you have a fever and have terrible pain somewhere? Sorry, she can't see you for a week. Try next Monday. Even when you do manage to make an appointment, the wait is HEINOUS. My appointment was for Doctor Hou at 2:45 pm, and upon coming at 2:35 and giving the lady at the reception my care card, she takes it, and returns it to me without saying a word, going back to what she was doing before. Not even a word on what I should do, or where I should sit, or how long I may have to wait. Once sat down, I wasn't acknowledged until 4:04 pm, where I was led into the Doctor's office. Then, I waited ANOTHER HOUR just sitting on the chair inside, waiting for the doctor to come in. Next door, I could hear the doctor giving a screaming infant flu shots. If he's treating another patient first, and it's taking more than half an hour to do so, why was I brought inside? After the infant finished, the doctor then goes to ANOTHER patient, who also took around half an hour. My parking expired during the wait, since no one told me about the estimated wait times, and I had to get my friend to go down and extend my minutes for me. This is ridiculous. The University Medical Clinic drop in only has about a 1 hour wait, and you're free to go down to the nearby coffee or food places to wait if you feel like it. To wait for nearly 3 hours for your family doctor after waiting an average of 3 days after calling them? That is unacceptable. Sure, the doctors are nice, and there's a pharmacy and medical labs right underneath, but do you really want to wait for a week and a day just to be seen? Never coming back here again if I can help it. I'd rather just wait in Urgent Care in the UBC hospital, or ANY other drop in clinic. Trust me, the wait's not worth it. You can get a doctor's prescription or diagnosis in any other clinic. read more
