On hold for ~5m for a new agent, only for them to then state that the call never should have been transferred and they are unable to help me. The member/employee # they are asking for is not clearly labelled on my paperwork, and the plan ID was on a totally separate piece of paperwork that came in a separate lot of mail. Insane.

They will selectively ignore your questions, if they can vaguely point to something else you said. They will not cite or point you to their actual written policy. They seem to have processed things incorrectly and they cannot explain why they did it. They don't mind putting participants in awful situations, because they can just ignore you. Instead of trying to answer my questions, one of the people I spoke to kept deflecting and was even caught up with her own idea and said "you're just trying to find a loop hole". I don't get how trying to understand why principal processed something the way they did was trying to find a loop hole. If you have issues with them and they cannot point to a policy and they refuse to answer your questions, report it to an external regulatory body. Document everything. Report them to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), U.S. Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) , IRS, consult with an ERISA attorney, or something.

I didn't go with them because I needed some time to think about it but after some time and the way the economy is going now, this option is clearly high reward yet risk is low. Beware of scam brokers like Birch Gold…read more Firstly, just consider others like Miles Franklin or KEPM because they're fair and won't charge outrageous premiums. In September 2023 I converted my traditional and Roth IRA accounts to precious metals with Birch Gold. The representatives were helpful enough and even offered me custodial services at no charge. I felt good about it for a long while until I started looking into other, more honest aforementioned brokers. Little did I realize at the time that they were charging me as much as 470.04% premiums on some of the silver assets in my order! Yes, almost 500%!!! Now that's a spread! In addition, they sold me these funky 1.85oz products and other "Laurel" coins that aren't common and don't really have a buyer in the free market. I consider this unbelievably predatory behavior from a company that I trusted after hearing about them via Ron Paul's Liberty Report. If I could go back I would have shopped around a little more rather than just placing my trust in them via Ron Paul's credible endorsement. Despite the market increase in gold & silver since that time in late 2023, I feel horrible about the dishonest practices of this company and how they scammed me out of a large percentage of my hard-earned savings. I've contacted Guy Artuso and tried to recoup what I lost with my initial order. He gave me buyback prices that reflect a spread of approximately 58% from Birch Gold Group's current ask prices. If they were to sell a new customer my exact asset portfolio, it would cost that customer $266,416.76. So why is my buyback offer only $111,581.65? No progress with them as of yet, but I've found a financial advisor who knows attorneys who specialize in these types of complaints, so I'm feeling hopeful even if all else fails. In summary, DO NOT TRUST Birch Gold Group. They will scam you out of your hard-earned retirement savings just like they did to me - and they won't lose a wink of sleep over it either.
