The Links of GlenEagles - 17th hole, river valley and mountain views

Scenery 4.5. I Admit to being biased toward mountain golf courses. Glen eagles remains a favorite…read more The sweeping vistas of the Canadian Rockies makes this a picturesque setting. There are two downhill par three holes with dramatic elevation changes overlooking a gorgeous river with the Rockies in the distance. Since the sand oil business seems to be set up at the base of this course it has marred the view but this is easily overlooked and ignored. 0.5 deduction. Routing and shot values 4.5: I walked the front nine. This is very doable. The shot values and aim lines are very good to generous fairways on the front nine. This is where you want to score. The par 5 2nd is reachable and the elevation changes aren't overly taxing for walkers. The back nine is NOT walkable. The pro-staff was helpful and made sure we took a cart for the back nine. Long walks between holes and Steep terrain make the back nine cart necessary. Golf carts are gas powered as necessary on hilly courses. The back nine plays down into a valley for several holes and you lose the majesty of the Rockies during that time. The houses that border the course come into play more than I like. The back is much more demanding and narrow so be prepared and avoid the big number. 0.5 deduction for the houses. Staff 4.5: friendly in the pro shop and cafe. Cart guys look exhausted and were just helpful enough; Very perfunctory. 0.5 deduction. Also the pull carts they have are the giant wheel type that too over with regularity on hilly terrain. They would be best served by having 4 wheeled push carts by Clicgear of Sun Mountain. Greens 4.0: they were in good shape but starting to get overrun by poana grass. Hence several putts were knocked offline by flowering poana; a weed that is a curse to all golf courses. I'm a 6 handicap and had played banff springs and heritage pointe on this trip. Perfect greens in both instances with heritage taking the prize. Pace of play 5: played in 4:25. No rangers on this go around but no issues either. The foursomes in front of us kept pulling away, playing fast. Much appreciated!! Overall, this course deserves 5 stars because it was a joy to play. My advice is to walk the front and ride the back nine. Enjoy the scenery and play for the spectacular shot!

Never having been to this golf course before I wasn't sure what to expect but I'd heard good things…read moreso I was excited to give it a try. We weren't very lucky with the weather, as the day was insanely windy and bitterly cold, but I'd come armed with 4 layers, a contigo mug of hot tea, and determination to get through all 18 rounds. The clubhouse staff was friendly and cheerful despite the weather and they very kindly switched us to carts that had windscreens before we could get too settled. The driving range is a little off to one side and the balls don't go very far but it was nice to hit a few before we got started. They've got things set up so that they can either start on the front 9 or back 9 holes without you having to go tootling around lost trying to find the starting hole. We started on the back 9 which was a blessing because the back 9 is mostly level, open vistas and easier to manage in the high winds we were facing. The marshall that started us off was chatty and in great spirits despite being stuck outside so all in all the staffing here impressed me greatly with their energy and enthusiasm. They obviously enjoy working there. We survived the first 9 holes and stopped at the clubhouse for washroom breaks (super clean and very nice and warm after being outside for 2 hours), and hot drinks. We grabbed coffee & baileys' from the bar and I'm so glad we did...their coffee is DELICIOUS and with the baileys it just made the front 9 that we were continuing on to play that much more enjoyable despite the weather. Even the bartender was friendly and conversational, and she joked with us about making change for the tip and having to do math in the cold weather. The front 9 holes we were very glad to have had to play after the break because they're all hills, valleys, and water so the peaks sheltered us from the wind and even with having to hike up steep valley/cliff walls to get to our balls we were able to push on fortified with the irish cream coffee... All in all we had a delightful experience, lost a dozen balls, found a dozen balls belonging to previously unlucky people, and went on to have a great round. I don't care that my score was horrid, I had a fantastic time with great company on a delightfully challenging course staffed with people who seemed to enjoy being there as much as I did...next time I just hope it's sunny and 20+ degrees with a light breeze....

Throughout the entire wedding planning process, Makayla and Loreena were incredibly supportive, responsive, and readily available to assist with anything I needed in the lead-up to the big day. Their professionalism and warmth made the entire experience stress-free and enjoyable. On the day of the wedding, their coordination was seamless. I received countless compliments from guests saying that the venue was stunning, the ceremony and reception spaces were beautifully arranged, and the food was absolutely delicious. Many even told me it was one of the best weddings they had ever attended! I cannot thank The Hamptons enough for providing such a bright, beautiful, and joyful atmosphere for one of the most important days of my life. More than anything, I am so deeply grateful for the guidance, assistance, and direction that Makayla and Loreena offered every step of the way. If you are looking for a venue for your wedding ceremony, reception, or both--I highly recommend The Hamptons Golf Club!

Not sure about this since I am not an avid golfer nor am I familiar with golf memberships. The grounds are beautifully manicured and a very tranquil atmosphere is the first thing I noticed. I arrived for an event, so didn't partake in any golf however it was busy with golfers. Inside the building it is modern and clean. Took a walk around before heading to the event on the 2nd floor. Great views and everything was so green and well maintained. The space the event was held in was open, lots of windows and once again, even better views from the second floor. The room looked a bit dated, but then again it may have been the carpet? They even had a deck overlooking the course, which was lovely. The food was appetizers and on one table as self-serve. The food was good and some things were just ok. Things like veggies, mixed salad, chicken skewers all in small portions however the small bite size desserts were great. Everything from mini tarts, squares and cookies. As for the service, since all the food was self-serve and I didn't see any person, I didn't experience any service except when I went to the bar to buy a drink. Bartender was nice but since it was a very limited bar (wine and beer only) I didn't get to experience any other cocktails that a bartender would normally make. A bit disappointing. My review only pertains to that aspect of event space, catering and food service rather than the golf club part.
