The prep was personal and fun! Kara also did an amazing job of matching us with just the right KJ for us - Debralee. On the day of the party we felt so taken care of - Debralee and Chris did a fast and smooth setup and were ready to rock in the blink of an eye! We were blown away by the heart and sense of play that Debralee brought to the party- making sure folks of all ages and styles were included, encouraged and celebrated! There were seemingly infinite song choices! Best of all, Debralee made our kiddo of honor feel supported and loved. It was an absolute blast and honestly very moving to see everyone having such an amazing time together and cheering each other on. I hope we have an excuse to hire Kara Karaoke again soon!

Naiia was all that and then some! She came up with awesome kickoff games and activities, helped the kids sing and dance, and made the event super special and memorable (parents still talk about it 2 weeks later)! Kara, the owner, was fantastic to work with. As was Laura who partnered with Naiia on the day. 10 out of 10 party hosts, will definitely use them again (for kids and for work events)!

I bought the ticket to this exhibition about a month ago, hoping it was better than the one on…read moreFairfax last year, and I was not disappointed!   This time, it turned out pretty nice and awesome. I was able to see our boys whole discography and how they got to where they are, and every time I see that, I get emotional. I have been supporting ARMY since 2016, attending every concert they had in the States, and just looking at everything they have accomplished makes me very proud.   Some parts of the exhibition are photo-friendly, but all the 'good stuff' is not, which was a bit sad. There's a merch store across the street after you leave the exhibition. You can enter by showing your ticket or reservation.   There weren't many merch options, and they didn't appear to be of high quality. I did not purchase anything, and it's rare that I didn't because it happens anywhere BTS is involved.   As a visitor, you are supposed to be given a photocard or token of some sort, but the management did not mention it and completely forgot. I emailed them regarding it but was ignored. I feel that at any BTS exhibition or concert, nothing is ever managed perfectly. Nonetheless, my friend and I enjoyed the exhibition.   ARMY forever, BTS forever.

But more on that later! $50 per person, this museum-esque visual walk-thru will be running until July 9th but you must make a reservation first. Parking is not validated but is just a couple dollars in the Third Street parking garages. The security here is amazing. The people standing outside were fun and joking around with us, plus even gave us some good tips. Cool ass people. This exhibit is mostly photos, honestly. And it kinda sucks because you can't take any pics yourself. When you walk in, I think it was Suga who signed their wall - but no pics allowed. They do have three spots you CAN take pics, but it was kind of a let down. There were also videos of them practicing and auditioning which was cool. And there were some very cool and sleek looking displays of their photos. Obvi I liked the music. But I was just left wanting so much more. I think we walked through in 30 minutes and the security guard said we went really fast. To see the merch, you have to go to another store across the way and show your ticket again. I took a look but wasn't into any of it. Nothing was super cool or unique. I'm so glad I didn't have friends come in just for this exhibit! My friend turned to me after and said, "Was it worth it?" Well, I would have regretted not going but I definitely don't need to go a second time. I was a bit let down.

This morning, I stopped briefly in front of The Clubhouse to respond to a text with my dog leashed…read morebeside me. A dog started barking from inside, and then the owner opened the door and asked if I was going to a class. Before I could even respond, the dog came blasting out through the door and tried to attack my dog. The owner then hit his dog and grabbed the dogs collar and started dragging the dog towards the door. When they got back to the front door, the guy asked again if I was taking a class. I told him no, I'm just responding to a text, in a public area and your dog almost attacked mine. He responded "shut up, b*tch". Violent and aggressive behavior across the board.

Struggling along as a beginning ON1 Dancer, I watched Jhony and Veronica of Mambo Inc. dancing ON2…read morestyle salsa. They looked different and better than almost all the really good ON1 style dancers I had seen, but I didn't understand why, until I enrolled into an introductory ON2 class at Mambo Inc.. Now I get it. It's a different, more subtle and more fully expressive interpretation of salsa music. Also called New York style salsa, it's just plain classier in my opinion. Johny, Veroinca and Vernnie of Mambo Inc. are THE go-to guys in LA for learning ON2. Not only are they all super dancers in their own right, but you can't imagine more caring enthusiasm from dance instructors. I feel sure they'd teach for free if they could find a free studio. They're just that committed. A HUGE advantage of taking lessons from Jhony and Veronica is that you can watch them execute moves as a polished couple. And then you can immediately practice the same moves with one of them, an expert, regardless of whether you are a guy or a girl. Finally, Mambo Inc. is a dedicated ON2 dance club including most of the great ON2 dancers in LA. On lesson nights, other dedicated members of the ON2 club show up to help out. This further expands the value of the lessons through the opportunity to dance with more expert dancers at no additional cost. You can get a lot better a lot faster when you can dance with these real pros in an un-intimidating classroom environment. As a beginning ON2 guy at Mambo Inc.,, I've been nurtured by an entire fleet of ON2 pros!

ONCE A MONTH every third SATURDAY in CULVER CITY - OK, I have gotten completely addicted to the…read moreintensity and marvelous delicious swirling on this dance floor. Now that "By Your Side Studio" has expanded into twice as much space since last year, there seems to be at least twice as many people attending. I attempt to converge every month or two, so far it's been a GREAT experience, especially if I can get there early enough for the Beginner & Intermediate Lessons. Then, I am really into the rhythm by the time Open Dancing occurs around 10:30pm. By 11:30, the crowd swells, and the rapid exchange of terrific dance partners and moves begins in ferocity by midnight, not letting up until past 1am. Bring your water bottle, (NO ALCOHOL) change of shoes & shirt, it's always sweltering inside! and we are all lovin' it!!
