Called in a few times for minor police calls. It turns out that it uses the San Joaquin sheriffs department as contractors for Lathrop until the new station opens. Typical of an un incorporated city going through its childhood growth. The few times I've called the dispatchers seem to be overall snarky and no help. Trying to get help from the officers is almost close to none as they are proven from track record to be unprofessional (google it). I'm sure there are current investigations against the San Joaquin Sheriffs Dept and many more will come but the one that will hurt will be the deadliest blow from them shooting innocent people. Please do your job and serve and protect rather than racial profiling citizens based in the color of their skin. My family is diverse and yes we do have colored kids in our family but that doesn't mean that you drive around looking at them like they are criminals!!! Be nice and waive hi to them, maybe that way you all will earn your respect. read more

So hubby gets a ticket in the lovely area of Lathrop on Louise. mind you hubby comes home around 1am since he works the second shift. LPD pulls him over for speeding on a Friday. They said he was going 47mph and the speed limit was 35mph, now I don't know where the cop is from but a week later when I am coming home from work i drive up and down Louise and all the speed limit signs are posted as 50mph. So I am not sure why the police didn't know that or where they just hoping he had been drinking or anything else since it was around 1am. needless to say not happy on having to go to court over this....wasting more of our time for a officer who doesn't know the speed limit read more

I took my wife and daughter for a Sunday afternoon drive today and on our way back home we went by the Lathrop high school so I can show wifey the breaking ground for the new community center they are building there. As we turn around at the dead end, here come the Lathrop PD gettin behind us. My wife was sittin in the back seat with my 5month old daughter. I continue to drive talkin to my wife about all these these new things the city is doin to grow, I wasn't worried about the PD cause I knew I didn't do anything wrong and I was legit. Then the fool flashed his lights after runnin my tags in already. I pulled over in Louise and I asked him what was goin on. First thing he ask is what I was doin over there by the school. I told that fool I'm enjoying my Sunday after noon with my family gettin to know MY NEIGHBORHOOD, he asked where I was headed and I said TO MY HOUSE. I asked him why he pulled me over and he said cause I didn't have a front license plate. Bullshit, saw I was driving a Benz that I got from mercedes Benz of Oakland with a dealer plate on front with my OAKLAND A's hat on and profiled me. Asked for my license and I gave it him. I'm glad Lathrop PD writes traffic tickets. I almost got broadsided by a dumbass who ran the stop sign near target. I'm also glad they have time to do traffic enforcement and that we don't have a big city problems like Stockton, yet. read more

The police here don't follow the law. I've seen them doing 50 in 30 mph streets. They don't stop at stop signs or use their blinkers. Another nasty is that one time we called them because our neighbors had a party and they parked their cars on our LAWN. Our neighbors harassed us and said racial and sexual stuff to a minor. Mr police officer was there and oh boy, he laughed along with them and then left. This other time we had a car following us. We drove to the police station and the owner of the vehicle kept making threats. Here comes mr police man again, and ooh boy all he says to the person who was in the car with me "oh I know you!!!!" And did nothing more. Lathrop needs to retrain their police team and punish their officers whenever they do something wrong. Don't live in lathrop, find some place in Manteca instead. The police are far more competent there. read more

I to have a complaint against the Lathrop Police Dept. I was traveling down Lathrop Rd from Harland toward 5th St. when a motorcycle hiding in the trees at the park across the street from 5th st. when he pulled me over he said I was doing 55 in a 35 zone, Now I know I was not doing highway speed,then he said he was cutting me a break and wrote the ticket for 45 in a 35 zone They had just changed the speed limit with in the last year,I had just moved to Manteca,and knew nothing of the change,I was in Lathrop to attend an art show committee meeting. I grew up in Lathrop and Lathrop Rd was always 50mph,I guess 3 homes that face Lathrop Rd complained, and the city council changed it .Boy the must be someone important to get a speed limit changed just like that. I haven't had a ticket since I was 17 and I'm 51, That officer should have given me a warning. And to boot at my meeting I was telling someone about it, and this lady said"Oh was that you? that motorcycle officer went over a double yellow line and almost made a Comcast van and myself collide when he was going after you" I have decided to stop all my volunteer work for Lathrop and also pull all my assets from the city.Now this is what really got me, last week a friend told me that he had got pulled over with no seat belt and the officer just gave him a warning,how fair is that.I'm wondering how meany people leaving that bar he has pulled over,or over looked.I'll be back with my court results.I'm sure it's going to be expensive,after all Lathrop needs all the money they can get since they don't know how to run a city. This evening (6/16/17) on our way to a friend's house (I was with my 3 kids, the youngest only 2 years old), I get pulled over on Spartan Way (near Lathrop HS. The speed limit there is 40 mph (25 mph WHEN CHILDREN ARE PRESENT). This Lathrop cop blocked my way with his suv, YELLED at me to stop, which I already did, and continued yelling at me "where are you going?? The speed limit is 25, NOT 40!!!!" IT IS 40, as posted. His rude, crass, disrespectful yelling scared my 2 year old so badly! This is her first impression of a cop, and it isn't a good one, poor baby. He continued being arrogant, making unnecessary rude remarks. Mind you, not once did I yell or was disrespectful in any way. I DO respect law enforcement, as I have two brothers who are sheriff's deputies. And they are respectful men! I did not receive a ticket, and it's s good thing since I WASN'T speeding! My hispanic 30yr old son was driving my new vehicle I just got tagged, smogged and registered 2 days prior. They pulled him over for suspended registration? Hello!!!! The car had the sticker, the car had proper paperwork, the car had insurance??? This officer, with a Sgt. on scene still wrote him up stating its coming up on the system its suspended registration!!!! 1) why did he run the plates it had the sticker, I went to DMV they stated it's registered... I got a print out Im heading over to LPD. To get answers!!!! Racial Profiling?? Maybe, but best believe someone will be held accountable... Sticker, paperwork all in order should have been enough!!!!! Does the officer need training, does the Sgt. on the scene be also held accountable, ABSOLUTLEY!!!! They want us to be they should be too!! Time to get my writing skills to work. If the answers I get are unreasonable a complaint on this officer and this Sgt. will be filed. People think it dont make a difference but it does. If they are at fault not following policies and procedures they will be retrained it goes on their file.
