My son is autistic, so we decided to start with private lessons. Following instructions can be challenging for my son, but Mr. Castro has shown incredible patience, kindness, and understanding. He truly took the time to build trust with my son, and that has made all the difference. We've seen such meaningful progress -- my son is now able to follow instructions and always tries his very best in every session. We truly appreciate the care and dedication that goes into working with him. My daughter has grown so much since joining as well. She's becoming stronger, more disciplined, and confident. Out of all the activities she's tried, martial arts is the one she loves the most. Its a trail offer to see if you like the class or not from others I've called offer trials are for free But this one charges! I don't have any issue with this so I give it 3 stars as its just ok. 2. If you like the class and wish to proceed they charge 1 time $89.00 Enrollment fee Why ? and what's it used for is beyond me ? Most to my knowledge don't charge any Enrollment fee and since it goes to nothing and no uniform I see that as money in the facilities pockets so I give them 1 star in times with COVID AND JOB LOSSES I see this as a major negative impact on the consumer! 3. THIS ONE WAS THE MAJOR DECIDING FACTOR THAT EVERYONE NEEDS TO BE MADE AWARE OF: They will make you sign a 12 month revolving contract with a 3rd party vendor from what I have heard has poor reviews with BBB that American Top Team/Traditional Martial Arts Studio has no control over and I as well as others need to be cautious of and read the contract very carefully! I did not read this contract because I have never been to the facility but, I did ask lots of questions and offered to pay 12 months in cash in advanced but apparently that wasn't an option! Why ? If I was to guess I would say someone is making money from you or I by signing those contract because this 3rd party are not processing payments for free and martial arts studio has to be making money as well for their time in explaining and having you sign those contract ! something is not right and everyone needs to be aware of that . On a personal note : I don't understand why the Studio Are unable or unwilling to process there own recurring payments because I deal with small and some large companies all the time and some have lots of customers and every one of them process their own recurring payments as its done all the time without the need for any contract to make the customer feel comfortable instead of trapped into some contract . there just has to be an easier way: so for this I give (- 1 star) Very Disappointing phone call !

My family had experienced a couple different gyms in the Bay and when looking into an extracurricular for our kid in the Valley, we knew there were a few key things that were important to us. First, a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. Second, coaches who care for the safety of the students as much as their progress. Third, a place that treated each student equally, challenging them to be better each class. I'm happy to say that Charles Gracie Academy in Mountain House met all these expectations and more. From the first day we signed up our kid, we got a "welcome to the family" from the coaches. It felt warm and inviting, especially for a nervous kid joining the 4-6 age group. This age group is not easy to manage, but somehow at each class the coaches succeed in coaching them to listen and follow through as best they can. Watching from the sidelines, I can see how much patience, firmness, and diligence it takes to wrangle the low attention span this group has collectively. While they are teaching the fundamentals of the sport, the coaches make it fun, too. If they're not having fun, what's the point, right? In a year, I watched my kid grow and thrive thanks in part to the influence of discipline and focus from training at this jiu jitsu academy. He's developing into a kid who will have self-control, self-confidence, awareness and most of all can kick ass if an occasion calls for it. Don't hesitate on this place. Go check it out. We've followed him from that summer program to his new studio because we see how he has helped our 14 year old son. Now we have our 7 year in the program as well. Hours are very flexible and they even offer a Saturday catch up class. The prices seem very reasonable and everything is put in plain English on a month to month plan. They offer group classes and private classes. Group classes are separated by age groups to keep things fair in age and weight. If you are new to the sport, they offer a free introductory class. CGJJA also hosts an annual tournament for students to test their skills. We specifically signed up our 4 and 6 year old boys for their introductory class. After their first class, they were hooked and have been with this academy for over two years now. The coaches are very patient and great with the kids! The only drawback to this location is spectating. They only have a couple benches inside the front area. They do now allow parents to sit inside, I'm assuming for distraction purposes. If you want to watch, you have to stand outside and watch through the windows. Not the worst thing, but worth noting. All in all, we are happy with what our boys have been learning at the Ripon Academy!

Every instructor we've experienced for the 2+ years he has been attending has been thoughtful, safety conscious, detailed, and encouraging. They've taught my son values and skills that are meaningful and helpful beyond the walls of the studio. Integrity, courtesy, perseverance, self-control, and an indomitable spirit are all things they practice and encourage in their students. This is good place for learning judo. The instruction is very high quality with usually 2 or 3…read morecoaches teaching a class. The students get a mix of group and individual instruction since they normally have a couple of coaches present. The class usuallly consists of a half an hour warm up complete with stretches, exercises and judo drills. Then about an hour of instruction, followed by randoori on the feet and or on the ground. This is a very family friendly environment, with an emphasis on proper technique and good sportsmanship. It is located in the McKinley Community Center in McKinley Park.
