I'm so glad I went through with it--the initial assessment was incredibly insightful and has really shaped the level of care I've received. I genuinely feel like my experience has been tailored to my needs, which has made all the difference. One thing I really appreciated is how transparent they were from the beginning. They clearly explained my care plan and provided an estimate of the costs upfront. They also accept insurance and submit it on your behalf, which made the process much easier and less stressful. The space itself is beautiful, and you're there for so much more than just an adjustment. There's a dedicated area to stretch and prepare your body beforehand, followed by a calm cool-down zone. Additionally, they offer a wide range of services beyond standard chiropractic care. The staff are incredibly kind, and having draft kombucha available is such a lovely, thoughtful touch. I see Dr. Kaitlyn, and she is absolutely fantastic--so relatable, and she takes the time to explain everything she's doing and why. I am so happy I found this spot and cannot wait to continue care here.

I transferred into Savannah Birthing Center in my third trimester after moving across the country…read more I had done a lot of research on holistic providers in the area and was really excited to become a patient here. At my first prenatal appointment, I sat in the waiting room as my midwife complained loudly to the receptionist that I had not completed any of my intake forms and it would set her behind for the day. It was absolutely humiliating to listen to a medical professional complain to their team about me. Upon discovering that my name was spelled wrong and they were sent to the wrong email, she did not apologize or acknowledge that it was not my fault that these forms hadn't been completed. At the beginning of the same appointment, I explained that I had a history of disordered eating and was not comfortable being weighed. I had not been weighed in 3+ years, therefore I had no pre-pregnancy weight to compare my current weight to. The midwife said she HAD to weigh me, but would hide my weight. After she weighed me, she promptly turned the computer screen towards me so I could see my weight. Devastating. This entire appointment start to finish was horrible. I got only a handful of words in the entire time. She talked endlessly about how overwhelmed she was about their new charting system and opened a can of soda halfway through my appointment. It felt extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable. I ultimately left the practice when the midwife received extremely sensitive test results I had been waiting on and did not update me about them for over a week. I called and emailed several days in a row and was dismissed. When she finally emailed me to let me know the outcome of the test results, she noted that I had access to the same test results and could read them myself, as if I am a qualified medical professional and could have possibly understood what they meant or how to interpret the implications of the results. I would not return to Savannah Birth Center at any point. I have not had such an uncomfortable and unprofessional appointment in my entire pregnancy and would not return to a practice where such little regard was held for my health and my baby's health.

I truly don't write a bad review unless the experience honestly warranted sharing reasoning…read more I found out I was pregnant when I was only 3.5 weeks. Dr. Tina Mitchell, whom is wonderful by the way, wanted to see sonograms every week. I have been paying $118 out of pocket for each sonogram the day I had one; that was the balance post insurance. I am now 10w2d. I received a call last week at 9 weeks while at work on a Tuesday mid morning by Cassie whom works the front desk. Cassie tells me I need to start paying $600 monthly towards my delivery fee and insurance deductible and make the first payment on Thursday the day of my 9week sonogram or my appointment will be canceled. Of course I didn't have $600 lying around and only given 2 days to figure it out. I'm being denied prenatal care. I was given Pamela's number whom is the "practice manager." Pamela was not professional and seemed as though she could care less. I even told her I'd have tricare prior to delivery as my honorably medically discharged war veterans boyfriend and I have had plans to marry. Once I said " tricare" he tone changed, but she is still denying me and my unborn child healthcare. I am disgusted and I can't believe a physicians office operates this way. Here are texts between the practice manager to show how cunning they can be and only care about $ not about health care for individuals which is what I thought medical professionals live, breathe, and eat; to help others.

[This review is for their classes - not the birthing center/midwife services]…read more My husband and I paid for and participated in the preparing for birth class run by Jillian Hollingsworth. Under no circumstances would I recommend this class or this instructor. The description on their website claims the class is designed for "all birthing people" yet that could not have been further from the truth. I was the only mom in the class who was planning to birth in a hospital. From the moment I said this out loud, I felt ostracized. Jillian exclusively referred to me as "Hospital Mama" instead of by name. I was made to feel like I was making the wrong choice. Jillian then made sure that no one wanted an epidural or pain meds for their birth. I had planned on (and did get when it was time) an epidural but I knew better than to say so. However, she did single me out and said something along the lines of "You're not getting an epidural, are you?" We lied and said we weren't planning on it solely to avoid judgement. The class didn't provide any real helpful birth coping mechanisms or guidance on positions or breathing techniques like I was hoping. It was mostly a detailed walk through the stages of labor which was good info but not worth $250. To top it all off, Jillian allowed the class to venture into anti-vax convos and claims of vitamin K dangers that have been proven false. Several moms were allowed to share false information about black box labels and were not corrected by Jillian. Evidence-based information can be found here for other new moms and for CBP to review: https://evidencebasedbirth.com/evidence-for-the-vitamin-k-shot-in-newborns/ We left feeling so uncomfortable and wanting to never step foot back in the birthing center.

Joanna was an absolute godsend. We (my husband and I) ended up with unexpectedly high risk…read morepregnancy and Joanna was there every single step of the way. She was so KNOWLEDGABLE and WISE about pregnancy, birth, child rearing, and homeopathy and naturopathy.  As for my story: I found out I was pregnant with twins in July 2018, and although we envisioned an unmedicated natural birth, we ended up in an emergency C-section at 7 months, due to placental blood flow issues. Let me how Joanna helped us surmount these incredible challenges...  Joanna helped me build a list of questions for providers, and was my strength when I needed to switch providers to one that much better matched my desires. Joanna showed me that I could STILL have the sort of birth I wanted, even if it wasn't in a birth center.   I called her before and after nearly every single appointment, because each new appointment left me feeling swamped with information and not sure how to sort my own feelings out. Joanna helped us work through all the questions and desires and expectations we had about the pregnancy. S helped my family with all the thousand mundane tasks of deciding on the best multivitamins, planning a diet around nausea and appetite loss, tricks for keeping up fluid intake.. She also kept us from freaking out every little scare--speaking me through experiences of spotting, discharge, and movement as natural parts of the pregnancy and birthing process. We traveled alot, and this meant alot of minor scares in a lot of different cities, and she was there for every call, email, text, and video chat, counseling us in every sense of the word. In December, Joanna worked with us in Fernandina Beach, teaching us a slew of methods for stretching, massage, and pain relief as the twins began to really put pressure on my hips and back.  Drawing from her experience raising three babies by herself, Joanna taught us all about cloth diapering and other earth-friendly approaches to parenting, which was amazing!   Unfortunately, when I was in Philadelphia a few weeks later, the doctors found restricted blood flow in twin A.  It got worse very rapidly, leading us to decide on an emergency cesarean within 72 hours, before the steroids for lung development could even take full effect.  Joanna stayed on the phone with me so much during those 72 hours, video chatting in, as we met with groups of high risk doctors, NICU nurses, and went through test after test. The twins were born at 32 weeks, and our son's apgar scores were 1,2, and 4 (these are very low). NICU was a harrowing experience and there was intense medical pressure to take every intervention possible. I would have felt totally shamed and alone if Joanna wasn't on the phone with me so much, INFORMING me and EQUIPPING me with research about kangaroo care, the value of colostrum for preemies, and their far better outcomes on breastmilk, as well as the need for me to take care of my mental health by seeking a psychiatrist and a therapist. With her help and guidance, I demanded that the twins receive donor breastmilk and I pumped and pumped and pumped.    At 6 months in, we are still going strong, I am providing enough breastmilk for both of them, cloth diapering, AND working full time, while also NOT feeling completely insane (most of the time). It was so emotionally VITAL to have Joanna's support in the tremendously difficult postnatal period. We feel so lucky Joanna was there for us, and it has allowed us to look back on that difficult period of time as one to be proud of.

First when she contacted me after I was able to find her she made me feel so comfortable with her. She is very down to earth and real and understanding when it comes to anything. She answered all of my questions and even sent me verified articles on the information that we discussed. She helped me through the planning process of what I wanted at my birth. She asked me questions that I never would have thought of and it made me feel so at ease that she knew so much and wanted to help me birth my way. She did research on every worry I had and helped me put my mind at ease. She took notes on everything I wanted and put it into a customized birth plan. She helped me to think of everything i could safely do and she let me in on all the freedoms I have as a mom in the birthing process. I told her I wanted a natural birth and I needed someone to stand up for me and she did just that. She made sure I had everything I wanted and she consulted with me first before letting the doctors just do whatever they wanted. She talked to me, she came over to my home for a whole day and night and watched me through the night to watch my contractions. She was on call for me. She massaged my ankles and back and had some amazing techniques to dispel the contractions when the came on hard. She helped to coach my husband so he could help me. She is overall an amazing doula and someone you need on your side. I had a totally natural birth and she stuck by my side and made our family feel so confident and comfortable I will recommend her to anyone and everyone. Don't doubt the powers of this doula! She is awesome, intelligent, caring, professional, and she just fits right into our family! I love her for helping me!
