Took our beloved Hampton to Lasting Paws Pet Memorial Services in Colorado Springs, CO after we had to make the difficult decision to put him to rest. The staff there were truly remarkable. His paw print is flawless, and every aspect was arranged with utmost tenderness, and care.

Called on Thanksgiving to their 24/7 line, they contacted me back quickly. I think the 24/7 is more for emergency euthanasia for an injured/ill animal. Person would meet me even on Thanksgiving day, but it would have to be late in the day, and neither of us thought it necessary. I put Minnie in a cooler with two bags of ice and transported her the following Friday. Operation was in a strip of small shops, nice enough, and there were no bad odors, et cetera in or out of facility. I requested a tour of the backroom and an explanation of the "cremation" process. It is not an actual "cremation" in the sense that the body is transformed by fire, but rather an accelerated decomposition process like if the body were to be buried. Price list was readily available on website as was description of process. The cremains are green in color when first removed from process tank, they apparently naturally bleach to light grey. At that point they are ground as fire-cremated cremains would be. Cremation service provided me with the cremains in a bag inside of an urn. I have not opened the urn, so I am taking this part on faith. They also provided a paw print, all given to me in a tasteful paper bag. Tjhe urn and print were included in the price of the service. Three levels of service are offered, the website and literature explain them better than I could. I felt it was a respectful and reasonable service. My sister-in-law-unit who works as a vet tech in another city felt that the pricing was very reasonable, perhaps slightly less expensive than what was available in Lakewood where she works.

To put it mildly, I have had some less than great experiences at the vet in my life. Every time I go to the vet, it causes me a lot of anxiety and stress because of my past experience. There's nothing as nerve-racking as second-guessing yourself on whether you need to go to a vet or you can take care of something on your own. My dog had a boo-boo, and I wasn't sure if what I did was enough or if he needed a vet appointment. He needed a vet appointment. Dr. Neimann was fabulous. She has great bedside manner, explained to me what she was seeing and thinking, and why she recommended the things that she did. They give you options of things to consider for care options, and then give you pricing before they do anything. I think the single biggest thing that stood out is that the antibiotic that he needed is really expensive if you buy it through the vet, however, it's available generically at most pharmacies. She thought about this in advance and made sure that the medication that I needed was something that I could get at a reasonable price. Her forethought to look at this before prescribing the dosage saved me something like $180. So not only did she do a great job taking care of my dog, but she gave me a lot of confidence in her abilities to take care of my pocketbook as well. Highly recommend her.

I wouldn't go anywhere else. Period. Long, but important, story ahead…read more Our puppy had been behaving unusually for a couple weeks and our GP vet office was backed up on appointments, so we took her to an unnamed ER in COS. At the advice of three vets in a clinic that I am affiliated with in Texas, I requested that they not run bunch of expensive tests and instead START with an x-ray. After about 18 hours on a wait list, we were finally able to drive back up and get the x-ray done. I had to specifically request those images be sent to our e-mail-- again, at the advice of the vets I know in Texas. They told us that there was no blockage, no esophageal issue, and no gastrointestinal issue. We took her home and made an appointment with the GP vet for a couple weeks out. The next day, the three vets asked if they could see the images out of curiosity and that our pup was crying in pain when we touched her belly. All three of them immediately noticed that she had mega colon. She was severely impacted with poo. They were shocked that this was missed, it was glaringly obvious on the x-rays. We called Uintah (which we had been to before, and loved, but they had been too full the night we needed them) and they put us on the board and we headed that way. They were so kind to allow us to give them the images fro the night before so we didn't waste money. Every single staff member we encountered was so sweet and you could tell they genuinely love these animals. They also did not do any procedures without talking to me first and discussing costs. Dr. Glover is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. This was our second time with him treating one of our pets and we were so happy to see him. He told me that it was, in fact, mega colon and he was sorry that the other place had missed it. We talked in detail about our options, what this looked like for our tiny pup moving forward, the expectation, the costs, and what he could do to help us now. Being that it was very late and that we did not have rapid access to a GP, Dr. Glover went SO FAR BEYOND what he could have done. He provided us with mild pain meds, gastro-specific food, and lots of info for the night but then actually let us bring her back the next day in order to administer IV pain meds, fluids, and enemas in order to clean her out completely. This is NOT their standard practice, but he and the staff took her in anyway. They called me that afternoon when she was all cleared out and cleaned up, and I had a couple talks with techs and a CVA about everything happening. They did not let us leave there without every bit of info we needed, to include a list of vets that they felt would handle the condition well moving forward. Dr. Glover was kind enough to write a one-month prescription of special food while we wait to get in to a new vet. The CVA (I can't remember his name) assured me that we are always welcome to come back if we feel like something isn't right again and the sincerity behind it had me ready to cry after all the drama of those few days. I really wish they were also a GP clinic. TL;DR Dr. Glover is a phenomenal vet, and each of the staff I have dealt with there are genuinely kind and amazing people who really have the animals' best interest at heart. Out of the three ER vet clinics in COS, this is by far the most efficient. PRO TIP: Call before you go so they have a heads up.

I brought a cat in critical condition and the woman at the front desk was smiling the whole time, she was happy, she could not care less the cat was gasping for it's last breath, then they told me the cat had died. I said it was just breathing, they said it was not really breathing and they don't want to give it CPR. I said why not give it CPR to try and save it they said because it could have other complications if we save it, I said so what still try to save it, and they refused to try. It was disgusting (their behavior). The main doctor agreed in front of his staff that it was just his choice to not try and one of the vets started laughing at me. And then I realized they were all lying and they uthenized the cat immediately when it came in because it was breathing and then it was not after they had it for a few seconds and there was a catheter in its leg and the woman at the front desk said they were going to uthenize it. The woman that thought this whole thing was funny while they killed the cat is Dyana Alanis and her Facebook page is filled with pictures of her home with statues of skulls, pentagrams, machetes, and the grim reaper - What kind of vet taking care of animals poses next to a statue of the grim reaper? These are the type of people we should be weeding out of the healthcare system.
