When mapping out breweries for the area, we came upon this hidden gem that we never seen on the map…read morebefore. It's located in Freeport FL just across the bridge from Destin. We definitely wanted to visit here since we thought it was a new brewery (more on that later). This place is actually in the backyard of a local High School. Kind of odd to be honest. There is a small patio on the side of the building. The front of the building was open beings it was a nice day outside. We decided to do a flight to try the beers. Out of all that we tried and sampled, my friend was a fan of the Cherry Limeade and Anchored Down was my favorite beer. After speaking with who we assumed is the owner, we learned this place has been open a few years. I even told the guy that we have came down here for the 3rd year in a row to Florida and never has this place popped up on the map or a whisper of this place was mentioned. He gave us a background on the place and the beers themselves. I also heard from another source that one of the brewers is from our Hometown of Louisville KY. We enjoyed our visit here quite a bit however it was quite a distance from where we were staying. I wish we had time to visit one more time but, maybe next time. It is definitely worth visiting.

Most important--Odd Pelican brews excellent beer! Perfect venue for small gatherings. Come on a food truck day or enjoy handcrafted cigars. I recommend the Anchor Down Pilsner and Black Creek Stout. Thanks Tristan!

My husband always loves trying new beers and the option to get a variety of options canned to-go is definitely a plus. Their staff is very knowledgeable about flavors and suggestions and friendly even when they're slammed on weekends. Although it's a small space, we've never had issues finding seating either inside or outside on their covered patio and always had a great time.

The Beer: I have tried probably close to a dozen beers. They are always changing them out and they let you have flights of up to 8 beers. Their hazy's have always been solid. The food: Their pretzel may be the best one I have ever had. It's soft, doughy and comes with a tasty beer cheese. I want to eat it again right now. The last time I went I got a simple chicken strips and fries. Except it was not simple it was delicious. The strips were more chicken breasts that were barely seasoned barely breaded and simply delicious. I forgot I had a dipping sauce. The fries were perfect little crisp pillows of heaven. Get them with truffles for a slight upcharge. The atmosphere: Very cool. The outdoor patio in the back is perfect for those spring and fall days. The inside is decorated with various history fun facts and items. The brewery itself is in an old section of town that is being revitalized.

I had the brown ale and he had the porter. Both very enjoyable! I had the chicken salad on toasted sourdough. He had the Cuban. Each had a unique and distinct taste that we found incredibly good and counted ourselves fortunate to have discovered this little gem quite by accident during our travels. Our favorite kind of place after a dog park visit. Good beer, good food, great vibe. The staff couldn't have been more friendly. A woman we think may have been the manager (sorry we didn't get your name!) came over and loved on our dog. What a treat! We had a great conversation. We would highly recommend giving this place a try if you're not already hooked on it. We made some wonderful memories there. Thanks! Maggie, Rich, and Texxie

They had a great outdoor area with picnic tables, bounce houses, and a sand volleyball court. Inside was decent size and decorated well. I sat at the bar since I was alone. Bartender (Hunter) was very friendly and attentive. Offered good suggestions on their draft beer. Really enjoyed the Sundrop IPA- good quality hazy ipa. Also really liked the Island Hopper. It was an American pale ale which isn't usually my go-to but Hunter recommended it, and I really enjoyed it. Food wise- I had the grilla' dilla with pork. Had good flavor and a nice crisp to the tortilla. Came with chips and salsa as a side. Overall, really enjoyed my time and will likely return on my next trip to the area
