Suggested perhaps the wire for the element had come loose when the stovetop was put back on the previous visit. Wouldn't hear of it, suggested maybe a mouse ate the wire. Quoted us $350 for the part. Ordered the part online ourselves for $120 - lifted up the stove top and found the element hadn't been plugged in. No mouse. Contacted him to let him know - and nada. Clearly a bit of a rip off situation.
