I'm in town from California on a business trip and was driving to my hotel and noticed a baseball park named after legendary Dodger's player and coach Tommy Lasorda. Tommy Lasorda was and still is my favorite skipper of all time. He was old school and would throw tantrums at the umpires and opposing players too! His rants are classics. I want to give a shout out to Mike, the assistant director of this facility. I met Mike in the parking lot when I stopped by to check out the facility. Mike explained to me the history of this ballpark and how Tommy was associated. It's also cool to know that Mike Piazza is involved in the activities here. Piazza was a fan favorites during days as a Dodger and also as a Met. Director Mike invited me to walk around the facility even though it's off season. I would love to come back and check out the tournaments that are played here during baseball season. read more

It is too cold to play baseball in early April, not Lasorda Legacy Park. Just recently back from Florida, I found myself watching little league baseball with chilly wind gusting. Seriously, times have changed. When I was coaching, I would have called the game because there were icicles on my nose. Regardless, it has become a popular business and provides the Northerners to compete with the sunbelt states for training young kids to become respectable ball players. From what I read, the 27-acre Lasorda Legacy Park attracts talent from New England and Mid-Atlantic States. The complex characteristics have four ninety-foot base path artificial turf fields and three seventy-foot artificial turf fields. There are high nets throughout the complex to protect bystanders from getting hit by a foul ball. Lasorda Legacy Park's facilities have below grade dugouts which is a great appeal to the players. The bullpens are also connected to the dug outs. In addition, they have warning tracks, P.A. systems, electronic scoreboards, and artificial turf. The complex provides accommodation to its viewers with ballpark seating, concessions, restaurant, and a picnic area. Overall, it is one of the best baseballs complexes I have ever seen on Long Island. It is wonderful that this facility provides young children with an opportunity to play on pristine baseball fields. read more

The complex looked beautiful. But we didn't get to play. It rained ALL of Memorial Day weekend. The complex did not cancel the tourney. The weather forecast called for rain the entire week before the tourney. Instead of canceling, parents were strung along most of the weekend while incurring hotel charges etc while playing zero games. The weather was not their fault. Fields are great. Indoor batting cages are nice. There's also outdoor cages. The cafe has decent food. The only real downside is I haven't seen a working scoreboard in the 3 years my son has gone to tournaments there. read more

Came here for a soccer tournament today. This it's ridiculous that the check in tent is set up in the small portion allotted where spectators can view the game. Second team has to watch from behind the goal, through a fence. There is ample space here for the tent to be set up elsewhere. Otherwise, it's a nice facility. read more

This review is for the cafe concession facilities at baseball heaven. There is a Nathan's inside this cafe. Rest rooms are clean and the cafe has limited seating indoors and outdoors. It's ample since you're there for baseball not for dining. There are some claw machines for the little kids. While I think it sucks that baseball heaven charges $5 for admission for the parents of the players to watch their own kid play, I get it! Ya gotta make money right? It's all about the money!!! So upon entering the park, we decided to stop in to use the restrooms and we noticed on the tickets that we were forced to pay, that if we bought $20 at the cafe, we get $5 off. Oooh a way to recoop my admission ticket! So we bought some food, and I had a Nathan's cheeseburger and fries and the two girls behind the counter were very friendly, helpful and polite. You don't expect this kind of service at a local complex, however since I'm in the hospitality industry my whole life, I'll tell you, they provided better customer service than some 5 star restaurants! With seven baseball fields, why does Baseball Heaven not have an "information board" at the park entrance so that people know on which field their team is playing? The person at the ticket counter had no information. Grandparents and disabled people with walkers have to just wonder around, looking for the right game. How very stupid, inconsiderate, and myopic of Baseball Heaven. Also, the fancy scoreboards were not turned on, and so were useless. How very lacking in class and professionalism. On the positive side, the fields seemed to be well-maintained and the grounds were clean. Baseball Heaven needs to add proper directional signs to help people to access and enjoy the facilities. read more

EXCELLENT baseball facility!! The place is cleverly designed and fields are well maintained. I've been to many baseball facilities and I love how they have a network of nets which keep you worry-free when watching the game where all 4 fields meet near home plate. Area behind the plates have covered seating areas and the outfield has an uncovered seating area as well which helps you get an unobstructed from the fence view. One downside was the amount of bees which drove my daughter crazy, good thing was they an indoor earring area with televisions broadcasting live video feeds from the games. Food was pretty good as well and the bathrooms were in good shape. There is a good amount of parking. Note- each adult pays a $5.00 cover to enter. Bring bug spray and it can get cold!! read more

Even after being asked to keep the scoreboard updated they cant seem to do that simple task. If you are going to bother to look professional....be professional. Fields are great. Concession is adequate. A weekend tournament will cost you a fortune for admission. I know kids enjoy playing here but comes at a cost. read more

I find the lack of in proper scheduling of umpires and games, eg hiring same umpire team for back to back games during tournament play, changing/delaying games without informing teams and blatant disregard for the uncomfortableness of the players as they sit and wait in the heat at fields with no open concession stands or working bathrooms. Step up your game. read more

If you are in the u16 div. don't play if the GC ALL-STARS are playing. They roster 50+ kids from the best teams on long island. Most of the kids play 3 divisions above, they are just looking for trophies read more

Not a bad place to play baseball. They have cages for pregame warmups or just to come and get a little practice in. The fields all have lights so they have games into the late evenings. Only thing is they have scoreboards that they don't use that I have seen which would be cool but probably are left for tournaments. The batting cages don't always work and got clogged when I used them the other day. Plus unless you live out east this place is in the middle of no where and takes a very long time to get to. The staff is very friendly and know there stuff but watch out if any of the fields have a foul bowl because they will come in on the outfielders of the other fields (1-4) read more

Would've enjoyed my son's 16u tournament if you hadn't charged me $5 a day to watch him get creamed by an 18u team. If BH management had any conscience, you would've given the ONE 18u team their money back and apologized for the lack of interest in their division. Facilities are not bad; however, they lack in their concern for kids safety. At certain age groups they allow catchers to get run over and potentially get seriously injured despite a slide rule for close plays. The league did not correct the umpire for not calling out the kid that did not slide. Worse thing is the umpire didn't check on how the kid was. Therefore, the message that they send to others kids is that safety is not the most important thing and its okay to not slide and run another kid over. MLB has changed some of its rules to ensure safety of players and they are grown men. It's a shame that Baseball Heaven does not consider the safety of the kids as important as the game. Just the absolute worst money grab. We travel quite a bit for youth sports and are quite used to the associated high costs. The paying to get in to see my own kid play, having to buy their water in the summer, etc. But this place also mandates hotel stays. I booked as they requested (at a huge rate) and when I found out they put me in a hotel different than the team, they would not let me change. Now my son had to go to this tournament at a tremendous cost to our family, and could not even enjoy the team bonding experience. Now I am sure BH will say that is handled by a company called "On Peak" I believe. That is who BH mandates you to work with and they are the least customer friendly, non-convenient company I have ever had the displeasure to work with. I would avoid playing tournaments here like the plague and I will make sure to tell as many baseball people as I know that is the case. There are good places to play and others that are clearly just money making ventures. This might as well be a hedge fund. read more

Worst run tourney my son has ever played. Nice fields don't make up for crappy management. The rules by which the tourney were run were not the rules on their website....really bush league baseball in my opinion. And when our head coach spoke up, the general manager didn't want to hear it. He just didn't care. It was a colossal waste of time, energy and money. Plus, the area around Baseball Heaven is ugly and very strip-mall-ish. There is nothing in the area for the boys to do when they're not playing ball. Baseball Heaven would be more aptly named Baseball Suckiness. read more

THIEVES IS THE WORD THAT COMES TO MIND! 1st of all you're forced to book a hotel through them at a "special rate" which is extortion and also highway robbery at $179/night. We were also told we must be there on Thursday night in order to play Friday. Turns out there is only one game on Friday so only 2 out of 10 teams had to be there the on Thursday night. Simple math says this: $179 a night equates to at least $200 after tax and stuff $200x12 players =$2,400 per team (avg) $2,400x8 teams= $19,200 of which is SURE they are getting a huge cut of. But the fact is we didn't have to be there the night before but they're money hungry bloodsuckers. read more

Our team has gone for the last 3 or 4 years and the tournaments continue to get worse. The umpires are terrible and all on power trips. We had an issue and tried to speak with management who refused to speak to the coaching staff or parents. We were told to "call back on Monday". Monday it won't be a problem, it was a problem on Saturday while we were there. The admission fee is crazy, on top of the already exorbitant price per team to play there. For paying the amount of money that's required the "administration" staff SHOULD be available to deal with problems AS THEY ARISE! I wish in my job I could just avoid all problems. To my knowledge, this is a very new facility, and it definitely shows! One of the greatest places I have had the pleasure of playing ball, and I have played at a number of stadiums/colleges/etc. The fields all have in ground dugouts, and brand new state of the art turf. It is the kind of turf that has bits of old tires/rubber underneath, so you don't knock the wind out of yourself diving for that fly ball. If you can find an intramural team that plays here, definitely go for it. read more

Would rate more like a 2.5 then a 3. Main reason is seating or as I should say lack there of. Except for one field on the older kids side there is no place to sit except right at home plate. Try going to a tournament their and spending 5 hours standing. Better bring your own seat read more

Terrible. To start with, if your team is going to play here, every family is required to book a hotel room through them. For my weekend it was $170/night. If I was allowed to make the reservations myself, it only cost $110/night. So they're making me pay $60/night more than I need to, and they require us to stay two nights. At other big out of state tournaments we can bring our own food and coolers. The boys reported that they had to smuggle their drinks in because they're supposed to buy drinks instead. I've already told our coach that he can count our son out if he schedules any more tournaments there. read more

We were very excited to take our 9 year old son for batting lessons. We meet a coach who was really nice and gave us lots of information. We wanted to book 6 lessons. He asked us to send him an email so he could check his schedule. After 2 emails and 2 phone calls over 2.5 weeks have gone unanswered we have decided to take our business elsewhere. It is a very busy place and maybe if we were bringing in a team we would be treated differently. But the lack of basic response makes me weary of this place. read more
