Lasikplus is great if you don't care how you're treated if something goes wrong. I could immediately feel something in my eye when I woke up from the post-op nap. They confirmed during the follow up that a strand of "something" fell into my eye during surgery & that the surgeon had re-adhered my cornea back on over it without checking to remove it first & was causing some inflammation. In order to remove it they'd have to reopen my cornea to wipe/flush it out. They told me they could not get me in to get it out for at least 2 weeks post op even though they got me in for surgery (aka to take my money) only 3 days after the initial consult. I called 1 week post op to see if I could get in earlier because I could feel something in my eye every minute of the day on top of a thick red blood stripe on that eye that was not clearing up at all whereas the redness was completely gone from the other eye. Their response: "try refrigerating the eye drops instead." Finally at the post op appt to get it out, the surgeon was unaware I was there to get it removed. They then made me pay for the additional antibiotic eye drops needed when they gave them to me for free the first time. I am 5 days post-PRK surgery. I went to my post-op appointment today. Before my contact bandages were removed, I could see 20/50. After they were removed, I could see 20/30! My vision before the procedure was -6.0 or approximately 20/500, so this quick improvement is phenomenal. PRK recovery is a bit longer than LASIK, but the results so far are very worth it. Don't go there!!! I went and day of procedure they changed the procedure. IF I had done it I still would have needed reading glasses, I can see both distance and up close with a 2.5 reading glasses from Walmart. Very pushy people there to just do it. Wonderful staff with exceptionally trained doctors and surgeon Dr. Maw! I went in to see if I was a candidate for Lasik and Derek helped guide me through all the tests and then I went in to do the final eye tests with Dr. Kemmerer who told me I wasn't a candidate for lasik but I was for PRK. The procedure was explained in full detail to me and then I was taken back up to the front to Derek who explained pricing to me which was pretty much what you would expect of a surgery but still surprisingly reasonably as far as most lasik procedures I've heard of goes. I didn't feel pressured to make a decision right there and there was absolutely no sales pitch which was wonderful. After thinking it over for a few days I booked my procedure with Dr. Maw who after booking the procedure, I got a text message from telling me who he was, his credentials, asking if I had questions, and so forth which helped put my mind at ease! The day of the procedure the staff did excellent at explaining post operative care to each patient (I had a little time before I went back to the room with the Dr). The procedure was very quick and Dr. Maw explained everything as he was doing it and was very patient with me being so nervous and jumpy (even though I really didn't need to be). I'm now 8 days out from my PRK procedure and I can finally see without glasses or contacts for the first time since kindergarten and I couldn't be happier with how I was treated at LasikPlus! I loved the staff and Dr. at this location! I've wanted LASIK eye surgery since I can remember so I decided to look into it again now that I'm old enough. I chose the West Des Moines LasikPlus because of the high reviews and I definitely made the right choice. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgable right down to the financing. My first appointment was a week after I called and the actual procedure was scheduled for my first weekend off of work after that, which was much quicker than I expected. My entire appointment took an hour but the procedure only took about 15 minutes but it felt like 5. I woke up after my nap when I got home and I could see even more perfectly than with my glasses before! The burning and watering stopped right around 6 hours. I had an exceptional experience at the lasik plus out by Jordan creek. The staff is all extremely friendly and helpful. Derek is on who helped me a majority of the time. They made the process extremely easy. When I went in for my initial consultation Derek went through all of the options with me and gave me his card to contact him directly with any questions. Awesome experience. I was nervous to get LASIK, obviously, because these are the only pair of eyes I get! But Dr. Maw and the staff at LasikPlus in West Des Moines made me feel very comfortable. During the procedure, I was never guessing about what was happening and I felt comfortable the whole time. When everything was done, I could already feel my vision correcting to similar sight that I have with my glasses or contacts (with a little haziness) except I didn't have either one of them on! The pain and discomfort varies afterward. There is a reason why you need a driver and a reason why they recommend a 4-6 hour nap. The dark room and sleeping helped tremendously. I was done around 11:45AM. Home at about 12:35PM. When I woke up from my nap around 5:30-6PM, I had virtually no pain and already had amazing sight. Today is one day after the procedure and I drove myself to my check up appointment! No pain, no swelling, and perfect vision! 20/20, healthy eyes! Hands down, best money I've ever spent. read more
