I came in for an eyelash extension removal. The location is on a busy street in hillcrest. You get buzzed in to enter the building and the suite is brightly lit. For $35 I paid for a 20 mins session where my lash tech removed my lash extensions but failed to remove all of the glue. I wish she took the extra few mins to remove the glue. I looked at the prices for the other services and I was surprised, $100+ for lash extensions. All I have to say is if all of their services are at the same quality as the one I received, I would do more research read more

Lashbar is the place to go if you want beautiful lashes while receiving the best customer service. I have been going here for about two months now and I am impressed. This salon makes everything themselves, from lashes to the glue they use. I want to give a big shout out to Joni. I needed a mini fill before my vacay and she got me in quickly, taught me something's I didn't know about lash care and not only are my lashes perfect she is a blast to talk to. I wanted to get my lashes done before a 10-day vacation because I am lazy yet vain. Between availability, price, and location, this LashBar seemed to be my best bet. I was paired with a junior tech who was so sweet and so patient. But, it was quickly clear that she lacked experience. The appointment took well over two hours for a classic set, and by day 4 (the morning of day 3 of my vacation) over half of the lashes on my right eye and about a third of those in my left eye had fallen off. I understand it's typical to lose some lashes, but there was no reason to lose entire chunks from one eye. Because of the imbalance, I looked deranged! At some point that week, the tech followed up to see how I was liking the lashes. I was honest about how most of the lashes had fallen out, and just never got a response from her or the salon. I'm not that upset - it had very little impact on a fabulous trip - I just rather have saved the $200 and not gotten anything done. read more

I've been getting my lashes done here since November of last year. When I started coming here, I lived walking distance from the salon. Recently I moved pretty far away but I still keep coming here, even though now it takes me an hour to get here & an hour to get home. I've had nothing but amazing experiences here!! Three different girls have done my lashes & all three were so kind & did great work! I have never been disappointed. At one point I was losing more lashes than usual but it wasn't due to bad technique or anything, it was b/c I had been crying a lot b/c my dad had just passed away. They were so sweet & understanding, & they replaced the lashes I'd lost for free. I highly recommend this salon!!! read more

My favorite day of the week is my lash fill day and it's because LASHBAR Hillcrest has the best eyelash stylist in the area! The stylists are knowledgeable and experienced, and help me keep my lashes looking great. My favorite stylist is Joni and she is AMAZING! She is a true artist and was able to help me transition the shape of my lashes to get more of a cat eye. AND THEY ARE ALWAYS GORGEOUS! I usually get compliments after my appointments, and am sometimes surprised with compliments a few days leading up to my next fill because of her carful fan placements. The studio is super cute and offers memberships (two fills a month) which is perfect for me because I realized this is a service I cannot live without. My only regret is not finding this studio sooner! read more

I came here to get my lashes done and was not disappointed. Took the earliest appointment available with any stylist and got Alyssa. She took her time, was very professional and super friendly. Fast forward two weeks later, I got my fill today. During that time, I had a small panic/anxiety attack which caused me to be restless, move around a lot until I finally asked to get up for a moment to catch my breath. Alyssa was so understanding and kind during the whole ordeal. That speaks volume to me. Even with that minor setback, my lashes still came out amazing! Thank you Alyssa! About a month ago I decided to try lash extensions for the first time and decided on LashBar Hillcrest because of all of the rave reviews and it's proximity to my home. And wow, I'm sure glad I did. Jessica did my initial hybrid set. She took the time to answer all of my newbie questions and helped me to understand the lash application process and subsequent aftercare. She was also so sweet and fun to talk to during the application process. I left feeling like I'd made a new friend AND my lashes looked so fabulous!! They were exactly what I was envisioning. Since then I've received all of my fills from Brittany, and I can't say enough positive things about her and her work. Flawless fills every time, and she is truly a kind soul. I look forward to my fill appointments because not only does it mean my lashes get refreshed, but I also get to reconnect and catch up with Brittany. All that is to say I love LashBar Hillcrest. My beautiful wife got her eyelashes done by Jessica. Jessica is a true professional. I couldn't stop looking at my wife's eyes. The eyelashes looked very natural. I could tell that my wife loved them, too. She is already a very confident person, but there was something else that added to the confidence. I guess if you know you look good, you flaunt it. Great Job, Jessica! BTW, what guy knows the name of his wife's beauty services provider(?)? I'll tell you, a guy that is amazed at the work done. Horrible experience. My eyes became so infected after getting lash extensions at Las Bar Hillcrest. I have been on oral augmentin from my primary care physician and then went to urgent care and was proscribed Cipro eye drops. I have missed work time and have had so much discomfort. Horrible. I really worry about this establishment's cleanliness and integrity. read more

I HATE to do this because I've been a Lashbar client for more than a year now, but I am just simply not happy. I spent $200 on lashes that didn't last me 4 days. I typically go to another Lashbar location and see a Master stylist, but since they didn't have any availability, I took a chance with the Hillcrest location and a Senior stylist, and the risk simply didn't pay off. The stylist was super sweet and the location was easy to find and very clean--but I really didn't get my money's worth, especially knowing how long lash extensions are supposed to last. Just brushing them the day after the appointment (with a that fancy Lashbar brush, not even the one I was provided after my appointment) made about 10-15% of my lashes fall off. :( read more

Nina did my lashes she's the worst ever half of my lashes fell out the second day it did not even look good the first day I called talked to the manager went back to have them fix and got Nina again she charged me a $120. Dollars on top of the $150 I had already paid and they still looked bad that was my first time ever getting lashes done. Today I went to San Diego Lashes my eyes look great I'm so happy with them I now know I was done horribly wrong by the lash bar and their management do yourself a favor stay away from this place Money money-hungry NO TALENT techs they don't care about their work or their customer. First time at LashBar and I had Alyssa! She talked me through the whole process and gave some recommendations for my eye shape. I did the classic fill, D curl and normal lash look. I wouldn't have normally chosen the Senior Level due to price, but my experience with Alyssa was so different than my previous lash techs. I had zero discomfort, she was so fast, and my lashes came out exactly how I had hoped! The Senior level may be pricier, but you're paying for amazing quality and skill. I got a back wax from Savannah and she did a great job. I have a hairy back and she got all of it in a timely order. She also spoke to me about Hydro Facials and I am going to make a follow up appointment for this service soon. The facility was immaculate. The faculty was polite and responsive. I went to Lashbar recently for a lash lift. It was my first time trying a lift instead of lash extensions. The place is super cute. You do have to walk up a huge, steep flight of stairs to get to the second floor where the treatment rooms are for those who are older. All in all I was pleased with the lash lift but it's a much softer look than lash extensions. read more

Grab a glass of wine or the delicious lychee champagne from Lashbar because this review is going to be a novel. But it's also pretty thorough, so if you wanna know all the deets, this is the review to read. I've been coming to Lashbar Hillcrest once every 2-3 weeks for a little less than one year, so this review is way overdue! Whether you're new to lash extensions or a veteran, this is the place to go. Everyone here is extremely friendly and will care about your lashes the way they care about theirs. Every appointment I've had has been handled with the utmost care, which is exactly what you want when it comes to your lashes. INFO FOR FIRST TIMERS The amazing folks here will consult with you and discuss what your lash goals are so that they can help you get the lashes of your dreams. If you arrive on time, you'll be spoiled with a lychee champagne (or other beverage) before your appointment, which makes it even easier to relax and knock out. I started off with Classic lashes, but because my natural lashes are short like my worst ex-boyfriend's temper and sparse like the hair on his head, I've upgraded to volume lashes. I see classics on other people and they look amazing, so it's up to you depending on your goals, but I've loved my lashes each step of the way. It feels pretty f*cking good to not have to spend extra time on my face in the morning. :) THE TEAM I can't say enough about the team here. Since day 1, my lashes have been under the care and grace of Jessica. She (and Joni) have become close friends of mine in San Diego. While everyone on the team is fantastic, I can only speak to my experience with Jessica. I recommend her to anyone who makes an appointment here looking for a senior stylist (as of April 2019, Jessica is a senior stylist). Jessica is extremely detail oriented and admittedly I think she cares more about my lashes than I do sometimes! If you're reading this, thank you so much for everything! Also a big shoutout to Joni and Allie. Thanks for everything, ladies! While I haven't had my lashes done by anyone else here, every person is extremely kind and helpful. It feels like visiting the family members you actually like when coming here. THE AMBIANCE + LOCATION It's cute and clean inside Lashbar Hillcrest, which also makes it a perfect spot for a bachelorette party or girls' day getting lashes done together, or any of the other services they provide. It's located in the main hub of Hillcrest, but not to fret - they offer parking validation for the parking lot just up the street on the left. MEMBERSHIP YAAAASS If you're like me and want to get your lashes filled every 2 weeks, I highly recommend getting a membership! You pay 1x per month and can get your lashes filled twice a month. The pricing depends on the type of lashes you get (Classic vs. Hybrid vs. Volume). It's cheaper to get the membership vs. paying separately each time, so do it! PRODUCTS This isn't really a review on products, but just pro tips now that I've had my lashes done for about a year. The lash cleanser is incredible and will help prolong your lashes! My lashes used to fall out easily due to stress, but also because my eyelids get oily easily. This is magic in a tube! If your skin runs oily, I recommend the cleanser! I also love the Grande lash product that helps your lash grow thicker. Good for people who have naturally sparse lashes. In case it's not obvious, this is THE place for lash extensions. I'm also planning on getting facials with Jessica and will update this review with my experience with facials. My new favorite spa! 6/28 was the date that I was there. FOH staff was very professional and treated me well with a lychee mimosa. Shortly after I was called into the private room for my custom facial. I live out in Acton (in Santa Clarita valley, near palmdale) and it is DRY over here. Also, having children changed my skin drastically as well. My esthetician was Jessica and she was so professional and knowledgeable about all the product she was using on my face. Also, she gave a short explanation with each step and how it is beneficial to my skin. I have to say, 3 days later and my skin STILL feels amazing. I also had a lash lift done and my lashes look amazing. My technician was Joni and she was gentle and proceeded to explain each stop as well. I had never done this before so it was exciting. My lashes look amazing! No more falsies needed! When I was done, the staff greeted me downstairs again with such kindness and professionalism. I highly recommend LashBar Hillcrest. A MUST place for eyelash extensions. It's luxurious, high end and you get what you pay for. (Worth the price) My first impression was the service. The girls up front are super friendly and make you feel welcome. The service is beyond amazing. Jessica did my eyelashes and let me just say she is the sweetest. I had a bad experience at another place and she made me feel welcome and had some a nice personality. My eyelashes came out exactly how I wanted them. Btw, the lychee champagne was yummmyy. I've been getting my eyelash extensions for about six years now, so I know a good lash artist when I meet one. Jess does awesome volume lashes. She's consistent and personable. Their online scheduling is easily accessible and they will always try their best to accommodate you. I come in every two week, but if I really wanted to I could wait three. I've been to the MiraMesa and Kearny location...butttt I prefer coming here. All in all, the whole crew here is awesome and personable. Lashes are done impeccable. See you guys again in two weeks! Meet the Business Owner: Jess B.

Immersed in the beauty industry since 2007, Jess embarked on her journey with a focus on nail care. However, her passion for beauty led her to expand her skill set. The other thing is that Michelle and her husband, Enrique, who works at the salon as well, are just lovely people. And together, they've created a beautiful salon with great stylists and a focus on your safety during these Covid times, but without losing the friendliness or the care they put into their services. Got referred to Tabie by a stylist I used pre-2021 before she moved away. I'd been to this Old Town salon pre-covid. When I arrived Tabie had another client with color on her hair so she wasn't even close to being done. She spent lots of time shampooing, massaging, cutting, and styling the other client while I waited and waited. To color (one color, no highlights) and cut my hair plus remove & replace 9 shoulder length tape extensions took 4 hours. I've never had a hair service take that long. And she cut my hair too short which I couldn't tell until it was dried. Now my 2 month old $400 extensions are also cut too short. When I complained she said she left my hair longer than I'd asked. Oh right - you know better than me how long I wanted my hair. Then she said it was $500 for the service! I was shocked. My fault for not asking beforehand but I had no idea it could be that much. I've been paying $300 + tip which I thought was a lot. And I could tell she just pulled that number out of her "back pocket" - literally made it up on the spot. I just wanted to get out of there so I paid and left. I texted after to ask why it took 4 hours. She said her other client was "only 15 minutes late" and it normally takes her 2-1/4 hours just to cut and color. I've never had a hair appointment take even that long even with extensions. And that doesn't explain the other 1.5 hours I was there! I can't remember a worse experience at a hair salon. It was after a long day at work and I was exhausted. I wanted a relaxing time and this was anything but. The other stylist's client had her child there screaming and running all over the salon. Then I found out Tabie trained my 2021 stylist, they've been friends for 20 years and almost bought that salon together. I feel I was set up and taken advantage of. My 4-year stylist was in on it too - they're all buddies. I'll never go there again and now must find a new stylist I can trust. If you think to go here better ask beforehand how much $ and how long it will take. And don't tell her to take off 2 inches because it will turn into 5!

I was simply picking them up for a family member. When I got to the staff at the pharmacy register, I greeted them and then stated if I can purchase a bag of insulin syringes for my family member. I was looked up and down by the employee, who then walked over to the pharmacist. He came back and told me they couldn't sell the syringes to me unless I had that family member's prescription. I wasn't there to debate policies -- I was doing a favor for a diabetic family member and felt completely judged and dismissed in the process. Feeling embarrassed and confused, I checked Walgreens' website outside, and sure enough -- it says in plain English that in California, syringes can be sold over the counter without a prescription, up to 30 units. I went back in and spoke to a manager, showed them the policy, and all they could do was point to the small print that says it's "ultimately up to the pharmacist's discretion." Here's the bigger issue: this location is surrounded by a large homeless population, and I understand the concern about selling syringes to individuals struggling with addiction. But even denying clean needles to addicts does more harm than good. A policy like this, when enforced without context or compassion, isn't protective -- it's dangerous. This pharmacist has either deprived a diabetic of life-saving medical supplies, or pushed a desperate addict closer to sharing a potentially disease-infected syringe just to survive another day. Either way, it's a failure in basic public health ethics. Denial doesn't stop drug use -- it just makes it riskier and more inhumane. If Walgreens wants to empower its pharmacists to make case-by-case decisions, fine -- but don't advertise clear and accessible over-the-counter availability if the actual in-store experience is entirely different. This experience was humiliating, harmful, and disappointing.
