So a day or so went by, headed to work realizing Kim never send the pic like she promised. (Mind you I needed the wig week by the following week) so I called back the number she last contacted me on. She went completely OFF about how I shouldn't have her personal number (yet she called me from it) All in all it was a horrible experience to get treated like that by the owner. Sometimes you try to support black businesses, but they don't always give good service. In this case all I wanted was the buy a wig and got nothing but attitude. This was my very first time using this place and it will surely be the last! I told the owner Kim I didn't even want the $40 wig she could just issue me a complete refund.

HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!…read more Since I had a couple days off I decided I'd treat myself to a day of beauty. Sooooo, I wanted to try false eyelashes. I researched some info on it and I found a salon called Mink Lounge on Elvis Presley. The prices seemed reasonable and the customer reviews were pretty good. I was SO excited to give them a try. They even advertised they had a special going on. (Yay!!). I wanted the individual lashes for a more natural look. The young assistant was very nice and applied them on my left eye. Even though they were the shortest ones available in my price range they still were too long in my opinion. I didn't really like them. So Kim, the owner told her assistant to take them off and that she (Kim) would personally do them herself but I would have to wait a moment until she finished with the customer she was currently tending to. So I waited while she finished that customer and another customer. Finally, I was the only customer left and by that time I had decided instead of the eyelashes I would get my teeth whitened (they advertised a special price). So Kim, the owner informs me that I have to make an appointment to have the service done. I asked her why, thinking maybe she had to wait on the supplies but she said that was the company policy. Mind you: 1. I am the only customer in the shop. 2. Kim stated the procedure only takes about 15-30 mins. 3. The website and FB page advertises they accept walk ins. 4. Kim is intent that I book online which requires a credit card. (Even though I would have paid in cash) 5. She told me because I was paying cash that the price was $20 more than the original price. Stunned at the sudden price increase and the fact that she told me "YOU ARE BEING SO DIFFICULT" I politely got up and left. I'm still not sure if she was mad about the fact I didn't want to give her my credit card info or if I didn't like the product but if you're a business owner here's some advice for you: 1. Remember the customer has a CHOICE on where to spend their money. 2. If you lack the patience of "dealing with customers" then close your doors. I had just arrived at Amanda Hill's studio where we were doing a pin-up shoot. I had been following the Memphis Bombshells on Facebook and really wanted to have some photos like that before I turned 30 (eeeek!!). I had seen Stephanie's work before (both hair and makeup) via Amanda and I knew this chick was a genius so I bit the bullet. Plus, you know that feeling you get when you just *know* someone is cool? Well, not only is she cool but I *knew* Stephanie was a hair/makeup genius the moment I walked in the door. It was love at first sight and now I've had her do my hair and makeup for 3 shoots. She has done vintage to contemporary and I've loved it all. I would hire her to do my makeup and hair every day if I could afford it because it is no coincidence that my dates go way better when I see them after I see her...but this is still not how she changed my life. She changed my life when I booked her for a makeup lesson. I asked her to teach me how to contour my face (aka make it look thinner - hello Kim Kardashian, thanks for introducing me to this concept) and not only did she do that (in the privacy and convenience of my own home I might add)...but she told me about filling in my eyebrows. In comparison, my current boyfriend goes absolutely gaga when my eyebrows are done (and he doesn't even know that is what is making him swoon...he just knows my makeup is different and that he likes it.) My best friend's fiancee saw me on New Years and hadn't seen me since this little transformation and literally asked her to start doing her eyebrows like mine. Who knew eyebrows could make someone feel so sexy?! Anyways, not only Stephanie Brick rock my world with the eyebrow revelation, but she also taught me how to correctly do my eye makeup. I've been walking around this world for 28 years with way too thick eyeliner looking like Cleopatra gone wrong...and now (I don't mean to brag but...) I can finally do a proper wingtip! Stephanie was a blessing in my life and I know that sounds ridiculous to some but proper makeup makes a huge difference...especially when you're getting older and trying to hide the flaws and highlight the good.
