Bathrooms were clean, the beds were firm but had a decent softness to it and the rooms had ample space to move about even if occupied by 4. The bathroom is also spacious and has great lighting. The pool area is okay, but could honestly use some upgrades with all of the other renovations happening with the casino upgrading the pool, sauna, spa and bathroom for that area makes sense. Parking isn't bad once you figure it out but if you're following the signs you're going to be stuck in the casino crowd fighting everyone else for parking. Initially they wrote down the wrong room number on the keycard holder so when we tried to open the door it looked like it didn't work, so we had to go back to the front desk only to find out that's what happened. A hassle for us but definitely more annoying for the poor soul that was in their right room just trying to take a shower.

We just returned from a 3 night stay at the hotel/casino for our company conference. We arrived…read morelater in the day on Monday. The customer service at check in was lackluster, but I gave the employee a bit of a hard time and he cracked a smile, telling me it was his Friday-- all good! The room was nice. Double queen, a single chair, plug ins for all different charger types in several spots throughout the room, Keurig coffee maker and a mini fridge in room. My two slight "complaints"-- the A/C blew straight out into nothingness (I don't understand why they don't direct them INTO the main space of the room, at the beds) and the shower water didn't get very hot (maybe most people don't like to turn red when they shower?‍) neither of which were earth shattering or made my time any worse. Oh, and the pillows-- weirdly airy, hard to get comfortable on, but better than flat lumpy pillows! Can't make everyone happy The casino itself was very nice, all non smoking which I appreciate so much! A lot of slot options, table games (can't talk much in those as I don't play), self serve beverage stations located all over. There IS a smoking room in the middle area of the casino for those who don't want to go outside. There are also several food options. Caribou Coffee was my stop each morning (Mint Condition!). There was an ice cream and dessert place called Sweet Temptations (didn't get a chance to try it), a cafe as well as some sit down restaurants and more fast food type offerings around the back. Also looked like there is a sports bar getting ready to open. The hotel also provides shuttle service to and from several places in the area throughout the day such as Mall of America. That was a nice option for my husband who joined me but was not part of the conference. As for our event, I can only assume that the buffets and food that we had were catered by the property... most of it was pretty unimpressive and flavorless. I don't want to dwell on that too much, though, for this review. Overall, if I am ever back in that area, I would visit again.

Downtown Minneapolis

Had a good, but not perfect, stay at the Foshay recently…read more What could be improved: *Room not perfectly clean/maintained - Nyquil pill on bathroom floor & one bedside lamp not working *Pillows kind of hard *Housekeeping knocked on my door early day of check-out *Didn't like the furniture layout in room, nowhere to put suitcase on sideboard What was good: *Fast elevators *Key card required to get to your floor, good security *Access to museum and Observation Deck included with room (will review separately) *Connected to Skyway system & a coffee shop *Helpful/friendly staff *Accommodated a reservation change when I called in advance *One hour complimentary late check-out *All systems working (hot water, thermostat, TV, etc) - obviously that's a basic must have but it is a very old building *On-site bar and steakhouse (didn't go to either) *Good location near other stuff I wanted to go to *Beautiful architecture / decor For the price (~$280), I'm not sure I'd return. But I'm glad I got to stay one night to experience it.

Not worth the hype…read more Was genuinely excited to stay at the W Minneapolis from Dec 19-22, but unfortunately the experience ended up feeling underwhelming, and stressful. Cost. The W is expensive, which shouldn't surprise anyone. Nightly rates hover around $200+ per night. Valet parking is $60 per night; objectively overpriced, though undeniably convenient. Additional fees: Pet owners, expect a $100 flat fee plus $25 per night, which adds up quickly. Where things start to fall apart is navigation and access to information. The hotel is surprisingly confusing to get around, and there's virtually no wayfinding or signage. In fully embracing the digital-only approach, the hotel has eliminated all traditional paper materials. No map. No room book. No quick-reference guide. Everything lives digitally. That sounds modern--until you need basic information like restaurant hours. eg). I attempted to visit the bar on floor 27 at around 330 pm. (It doesn't open until 5pm) However none of this is clearly displayed, and SUPER difficult to find without messaging the front desk and the Marriott app was hit-or-miss at best during my stay. The digital key never worked once, and even the room phone didn't function. That wouldn't be a huge issue if the app worked reliably--but it didn't. I did message the front desk through the app to request a USB-C charging cable and was told none were available. In 2025. At a W. That felt less like sleek minimalism and more like missed fundamentals. Food/ Room Service: Absolutely excellent. Manny's Steakhouse and the Prohibition Bar are both fantastic and independently operated in partnership with the hotel. See Manny's Steakhouse for a full review, it alone was a highlight of the stay. The room itself was very spacious, but it's important to remember this is an old building, and it shows. I struggled to maintain a consistent water temperature the entire stay. The room layout was also frustrating: the TV is mounted far from the bed, on a wall shared with neighboring rooms. Turning up the volume even slightly resulted in a noise complaint from next door. Yep, that actually happened. Overall, the W Minneapolis has style, history, and good food...but the experience feels more focused on image than guest usability. With better wayfinding, reliable tech, and basic in-room information, this could be a great stay. As it stands, it didn't live up to the hype
