Gristle and fat on chicken fajitas. I asked for a small to go container for the salsa that I paid for. She brought a plastic box of salsa and charged me. I had to ask them to take it off the bill. She disappeared.She never brought it. Sign said 1/2 price imported beer. They charged full price. I showed the manager the large sign. She ignored it, told me the server told me, and kept eating. Always feel like a bother when walking in the door.. employees always sitting on phones in booths annoyed to get up while 1 or 2 hard working servers run around... order gets messed up over phone because everyone is a bother to them. When we come to Muscatine this is our go to for Mexican food and drinks. However, they are now adding a 4% surcharge on all credit card purchases. Due to this reason, we will not be returning. That makes us sad as this was our favorite in town. This was an unusually bad visit, that's why it's a 3. Our chips were cold and some I felt were stale. I like to call this place "Los Lobos" instead because it rhymes and that is a band. So it's fitting "Dos Lobos" brought us here. I set my ferocious 3lb dog up on a doggy date with a much larger Lab for a supervised hangout. The lucky lady's owner and I went for a drinkso. The margaritas here are much better than any of the ones served at any of the Mex spots in town. And the chips and salsa are nothing too sneeze at. This is really crucial because who wants a drink mostly syrup and hardly any alcohol? Or too sour? Chips that are too salty and salsa that's watery and bland? Hijole!! Ms T and I have spent a considerable number of nights back in Muscatine lately and finally had a chance to eat at a few of the local restaurants that we had not been able to try before. We had three meals at Las Lomas and found it to be a another good place for above average Mexican. Muscatine has at least four credible restaurants; El Olmito, El Allende, Las Lomas and Guadalajara. I have tried them all and rank them in the order given, but all are OK. I have not tried Restaurant Izalco. We ate dinner three times at Las Lomas and ate basically the same thing every time. So much for exploring the menu. Ms T had red enchiladas of one variety or another each time. The red sauce here is not a dark red chile sauce and it is not the light tomato variety that you sometimes get. This version is more of a creamy orange style. Ms T and I prefer the pure red chile versions, but she found this good enough to repeat the order twice. I ordered machaca all three times because I like eggs cooked with either chorizo or beef like this. They do a good job. One time I asked them to replace the beef with chorizo. It is good either way. There are some onions and tomatoes cooked into the eggs. I asked for extra spicy and got a nice portion of fresh chiles jalapenos sautéed into the dish. It was very good and on two occasions I took half of it home. Las Lomas is a solid place. It appears to be doing a good business. When we lived in Muscatine we frequented El Zarape until Paul and Gloria sold it and then we were regulars at Imelda's. Both are long gone but we had a lot of good meals there with our kids. If I lived here again, I would be pretty happy with the selection of Mexican food and would try to rotate through El Allende, Las Lomas, Guadalajara and probably Izalco (Need to try it). I would reserve a special place on my lunch schedule to get tacos at El Olmito. I hope Muscatine appreciates these places. Solid three and one half stars for Las Lomas. read more

Unfortunately I have to give a star and I wish I didn't have too. This is the worst Mexican food my family and I have ever eaten. We've had mediocre Mexican food before but this wasn't even that. My son and nephews ordered the 3 crispy tacos and they anything but crispy. My sons order was wrong. He got served 3 soft tacos that were soggy and the nephews "crispy tacos" were dripping in oil and the tacos fell apart. My other nephew ordered enchiladas which were runny and soggy. My husbands soft tacos were more soggy then soft. My daughters quesadilla cheese wasn't melted all the way. The onion rings you could tell were fried in old oil and completely fell apart. The kicker was the "taco salad" that looked like soup. When we complained to the manager she said that is how taco salads are made everywhere and I told her, I'm not sure where you have eaten taco salads before but that is not how they are made. She didn't offer any apologies nor remove the items from our bill. Our entire crew left with empty tummies and we paid $70 for uneaten food. We also ordered 3 sides of fries and only got 2 because they ran out of fries. How the hell do you run out of fries? My family and I have dined from mediocre to the best Mexican restaurants in this country and Mexico and this place should be ashamed of themselves calling this crap Mexican Food. I highly suggest you never eat here. They keep removing my Facebook comments because they can't take the truth. read more

Still great food at a great price. This is a "must visit" when passing through the area... Their fajitas are SO yummy. The portions are huge. I made 8 nice fajitas for $12 (four of them to go)... You get filled up now and later! The only reason I cannot give it a full five stars was for the quality of the shrimp in my entree. They were tough and overcooked but appeared to also be pretty small to begin with. That's no biggie - the rest of the dish made up for it in a big way. The staff is really cool, too. I had 4 enchiladas; 2 cheese & 2 chicken, instead of the ranchero sauce I asked for white queso on top, it was Awesome!!! The only thing that could have made it better was an ice cold Dr. Pepper! Will definitely be going back again sometime! read more

This place kinda sucks. Honestly it only really gets two stars because your options in Muscatine are limited and the food is okay. The service however, is terrible. I've been there multiple times, and have had multiple issues every time from not bringing waters, never refilling the water, bringing the wrong order and not replacing it, and having to wait over 30 minutes to get my check when the restaurant was only 1/2 full. The wait staff was slow; there may have been half the tables partially full with patrons The staff seemed disorganized and lost...hustling arou d but not doing much. My meal arrived about15 min after ordering..it was cold. I asked that it be reheated. After 15 mins the plate had not returned. I walked back to the kitchen asking about the status. The staff was unaware the plate was returned.. I finallly recieved the order..well after my friends had consumed their lunchs. Bland entery, soupy beans. Did not see any manager types, the wait staff struggled to understsnd my questions/concerns about the meal and service. At the register I was asked the obligatory "how was your meal?"...she already knew but was not empowered to compensate. Will not return and will not recommend. The service is usually good and quick, making it great for lunch. The best part is that it's consistent. Not authentic at all!! I don't see what's so great about this place. I ordered a grande platter the one that comes with a taco a tamal enchiladas tostadas and chile relleno everything had that same beefy meat I did not like it at all!! The taco, I thought it was going to be authentic steak or al pastor but no it was one of those crispie tacos blah!! I will take my $55 dollars somewhere else.
