I decided to walk the area that was lined with cute shops. This place caught my eye with the colorful, and twirly merchandise outside the shop. I took a look around outside first which had merchandise that you would find mostly outdoors, such as pots, chimes, wall decor etc.... I took the few steps that led you to the front porch. This area could fit one person, maybe two people if you knew that person. It's a tight fit since it holds a couple of display tables to hold merchandise. Indoors is also a very tight fit. If you have a backpack or large bag you must carry it strategically so that you don't knock anything. There are fragile items in the store. Other than the tight quarters I enjoyed looking at the merchandise they offered. They had a little bit of everything! They carried cute journals in different sizes, fun pens, jewelry, ornaments, clothing, a lot of fun things! I bought these cute gloves for myself and I found them to be a decent price. My purchases were for Christmas gifts. The service was friendly, a little on the quiet side but friendly. I would like to return to this shop and see if they will change out some merchandise as the season changes. Do check them out! read more

Wow, I had the most unwelcoming experience. I would like to start by saying we were the only latinos in the store. It's pretty ironic because they sell a lot of latino and mexican house decor. Anyways we were followed from the outside patio indoors. My sisters were interested in purchasing a ring but we were elbow to elbow with the store owners, they watched every thing we did. My sisters are younger and even they walked away and felt uncomfortable. They even greeted other customers as they walked in but not us. We ended up not getting anything because i didn't want to support a business who makes their customers feel this way. At the end of the day, we were racially profiled and I'm surprised this is still happening here at this day and age. read more

My husband and I stumbled upon this literal GEM of a gift shop is San Juan Capistrano by the train tracks. The owner Luis is wonderful and told us about the history of the home turned into a gift shop. We left with several items and will be back to pick up more. They have everything you could possibly think of and the clothing and jewelry is icing on the cake. A very enchanting place to find some equally enchanting gifts. San Juan Capistrano has always been one of my favorite places in Orange County. It's a great stop by train from points north or south. The Los Rios Historic District offers a range of businesses to stroll... Coffee, tea, a boutique, a gift shop and excellent food and wine awaits. We will drive here just to eat at Ramo's House, we still consider it the best brunch in the entire OC. One may sit outside (blankets provided when it's chilly) and enjoy a three course meal. We also appreciate it is pet friendly. You might have a small wait as things get busy. On our most recent visit, we took a stroll and came upon Las Catrinas, a shop selling Spanish influenced decor. I had been looking for yoga blankets in neutral tones (and they are more difficult to find) and the staff and owner went out of their way to search the back room for two! Since we had just completed our first tour of the Southern California Missions, we purchases a friar robe wine bottle cover. We plan to cover the wine we purchased at Rancho Capistrano Winery, also located nearby. Add a little local history and color to your life or go neutral like we did, while you wait for your name to be called for brunch at the Ramo's House. Funky little store in Los Rios District, very colorful, with fun, cute merchandise. Home decor imported from Mexico, cheap yoga blankets, garden decor, a bit of everything. They have a cool backyard fool of merchandise as well, so check it out! Too bad this place is closed on Sundays! Prices are reasonable here, so you can get a souvenir from San Juan Capistrano in here, find a cute gift or something for the house. This is a one-of-a-kind knickknack shop in the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano neighborhood, featuring the work of local artists in Spanish and Mexican avant-garde style. The entire yard area is filled with colorful things for sale, front and back. Like the location itself, many items appear to be one-of-a-kind, and carefully curated by the owner. Not only are the items offered for sale distinctive - the grounds have character too, since the location was used as someone's home from 50+ years ago. It has that weathered, aged character that gives the place a special feeling, since historical sites are few and far between in Southern California. As you browse through the various items, you are actually wandering through the home, the backyard, and time, as much of what remains appears to be original, like weathered fence boards, an old tin shack, an old-school white picket fence out front, and well-established landscaping. The whole area, and this shop included, have a quaint, historical feel that can make for an interesting weekend visit or stroll. It's worth a stop if you are visiting the area. South of the border style with a side of California chic- that's how I'd describe the clothing and decor at Las Catrinas! Two buildings separate housewares from clothes so you can browse in some semblance of organization. The mish-mash of traditional prints and modern colors somehow works well together and I found it hard not to scoop up so many different little trinkets to take home with me: a colorful kitchen spoon rest, a woven yoga blanket, ceramic stepping stones for my non-existent garden, you know how it goes. I managed to get away with some accessories and a few gifts for others instead. Staff are friendly but unobtrusive while you browse their maze of rooms. read more

In this day and age? Really? Would you ever see this outside a men's clothing store, saying "Your wife called...?" A sign to put off any single and/or gay women, as well as all the women earning their own money, oftentimes supporting their entire family. I love jokes and a good laugh but this one seems pathetic and outdated to say the least. I did return after having read the raving reviews, to see some lovely pieces of clothing, with the price tag to be expected in the area. read more

The most colorful, welcoming, charming, well organized specialty store I've been into for a long time. Lovely music in the background to put you in a good mood whilste you shop. Everything is well grouped and the selection is incredible. If you want crosses, what a selection? I like to decorate with papel picado garlands for all holidays and they are nice to give away as well...everybody loves them, so they also went in to my shopping bag.
