Another nice place on Strand street. This street is so lively with beach vibes all over. We were looking to collect souvenirs and the store has got all kinds including clothing. It also has a small bar inside and I was wanting to get Pina colada but they only had those frozen pre made ones. Rest of the drinks were okay. Tried some local beer. read more

My boyfriend and I walked into this place to get a drinks sat the bar stool , 4 employees completely ignore us, they were so rude and unfriendly after waiting a few more minutes we asked if we can order here the guy told us yes and then walk away from us. Beautiful day on the strand today, and of course a negative Nancy that hates her job wanted to ruin it. We had a group of four walk up, she didn't ID the only man in the group, then when one of us went up to order she questioned my friend on if she actually drank Corona or not and then since my friends birthday is today she gave a whole lecture on how it expired today... TODAY!!! So yeah at the start of tomorrow, 12:00 AM it will not be valid. And she wasn't even turning 21 today, try 24!!! She said technically i can't serve you but guess what yall she still did, so if that's a problem for your company she did it anyway!!! Didn't even say happy birthday to her when we all said well yeah it's her birthday, and was a big grouch. Black hair, glasses today at 5:30 at the second bar closer inside. Worst girl!! The people in front of us even complained about her when walking away. I only visited for drinks but the drinks were good and strong. The lady helping fix drinks was nice; however the older lady behind the other register could stand to get some happy juice in her. If you are walking around the strand & see people holding massive bloody Mary's with an enourmous amount of bacon don't be jealous, go get yourself one at Lapalapa! Yep, voted Galveston island's best bloody & I agree! You can get a regular bloody for $9 or all the way for $13. Each has lime, pickles, olives & green beans. The delux has the extras of pickled okra, jalapeno, more olives, celery & a wad of bacon (they cook thin strips & bunch/roll them into a huge blunt-looking delight). The bloody mix is a med-spicy so if you like yours hot, you need to ask for it. The bartender pours the vodka liberally (like 3/4 cup full) & this is one fine drink! The staff are very friendly & work their tails off! And, there is a gift store somewhere behind the bar. Clean bathrooms. read more

What a perfect place to stop in for a cocktail during a stroll on the strand. I had the Hurricane. Delish and strong! My husband had the bloody mary ( deluxe of course) and said it was one of the best he ever had. Don't listen to those saying these drinks don't have enough alcohol. They are perfectly made and definitely strong enough. The staff was very nice and welcoming. We will make this a regular stop when we are down on the Strand from now on. read more

Given that there's a review over 4yrs old for this place, I'm honestly shocked (and a little bummed) I didn't know about it before this week! We've stopped in twice now and will probably pop in once more after Saturday brunch because this place has one of the best overall drinks on The Strand: $9 for a delicious Bloody Mary that's poured with AT LEAST 3 shots of vodka in it (per the first bartender who made me one). Yesterday's was filled nearly to the top with a splash of house-made Bloody Mary mix, and still, it was seasoned and mixed perfectly such that you couldn't even taste the alcohol...but boy could you feel it! They've also got a large selection of house made frozen 'on tap', too, with a couple alcohol free ones, all of which rotate flavor-wise. I noticed the bartender allowing samples of items to patrons when I was shopping around in store the other day, too, which was cool. They ultimately settled on the tricked out Bloody Mary for like $13, which basically meant a Bloody Mary piled high with bacon slices and the rest of your traditional toppers like celery, olives, etc. The store this bar is in is really great, too. The staff is super helpful and their prices on beachwear are comparable or lower even than other shops on The Strand. For instance, the same brand crochet bikini tops and a particular style swimsuit coverup have been calling my name since we've been here, and the cost here was actually lower than I saw them at the head shop down the way or the beachwear shop down on the corner. Not much cheaper, but enough that I'd have been bummed had I purchased the pricier items at either other locale, ya know. The bartender/shop lady who was there on our first visit (brunette, has a long dread in the back) was extremely helpful with sizing and suggestions when I was trying on crochet tops, and was never high pressure or pushy when it turned out I wasn't going to purchase (I guess commercially made crochet tops aren't meant for folks with a little boob, hah). Meanwhile, the bartender we encountered yesterday (blonde lady) was just as friendly and shared some good convo with my husband and I while she made today's Bloody Mary. Overall, this place is a great little shop to get a strong drink and peruse a good selection of beachwear. I've definitely added it to my list of must go places when I'm Galveston! read more

Their selection of hats, purses and seashell home decor is great. I found a super cute sun hat, and 2 flower pins for me and my sister to wear in our hair. Too cute! It's a shop full of souvenirs and beach wear to bring back home or straight to the water. They sell Native American headdresses and their staff are super friendly. What's really outstanding: this gift shop makes the best pina coladas (from fresh fruit) that I've tasted in Galveston yet. Definitely stop by for their fresh fruit daiquiris. They also sell virgin daiquiris. Next time I'm on the strand I'll try one of their decorated bloody marys. read more

I LOVED this place! After going in one store right after another that had the same thing over and over and over it was SO NICE to find some really cute items. Her prices are not high and throughout the store she has some 50% off racks with VERY cute items on them. My mom and I stopped in here because my mom remembered them having amazing frozen drinks. She wasn't kidding. I believe we spoke with the owner and she told us she makes the frozen drinks everyday from scratch using fresh fruit juices and uses a 70 proof alcohol. The owner was quite friendly and I will definitely be stopping back in there the next time I am on the strand. read more

I know 5 stars is a lot but for me this was an AWESOME discovery! We visit Galveston often and I love walking the Strand and stopping in all the shops, some of which serve adult beverages. I walked into Lapalapa to check out the cute clothes and noticed a sign that said all natural and gluten free daiquiris. Well, I usually cannot partake in all of those delicious frozen tropical drinks because I am allergic to corn and most of those yummy drinks are made with Corn Syrup. I asked the busy cashier if the drinks were free of corn syrup and she was sweet enough to have some check and hallelujah they were really free of corn syrup! I had the Berry Daiquiri and it was delicious and pretty strong! This will be my first stop when shopping on the Strand from now on!! read more
