Approximately seven years ago I had to make a difficult decision, my Brady had numerous issues. We tried to help but he wasn't improving. I decided he would not suffer anymore. When the time came Dr. Keller gave me the time to say goodbye, and he teared up with me. I received a sympathy card with a note from him. It said he hoped I would get another dog because I was a good owner and any dog would be lucky if they were going to be with me. Took me five years but I now have another dog, Charlie, who had a tough life at a puppy mill as a stud. He was discarded by the breeder and I was lucky enough to adopt him. Could not be happier with them, they are always pleasant, helpful and fun to joke around with. So, obviously I was more than comfortable to continue taking my dog and his brother there for check ups and medical attention. What really made me love Hempfield Animal Hospital is that without them I would probably not have my first dog anymore. About 1 1/2 years ago my husband and I went away on a trip for a weekend, and our first dog ate part of a rope toy without the dog sitter knowing it. Fortunately, he didn't get ill until we arrived back home. He got very sick on a Sunday afternoon and was just getting worse and worse. I called H.A.H. immediately the next morning, they told me to bring him in A.S.A.P., we saw Dr.Edkin that morning, and one of the first things he did was feel around his tummy and felt a lump inside around the intestine region, and noticed it was hard unlike stool. Dr.Edkin along with his assistants went over options and what needed to be done, I was hysterical because we had just had a very expensive repair done to our car and we didn't have the money for exploratory surgery and everything else to go along with that, I was certain that my husband was going to tell me to put down our dog and I couldn't handle that since he was my favorite dog out of the two (I know, I know I shouldn't have a favorite, I love both dogs dearly and it is what it is). Anyways, because I was so hysterical they called my husband and dealt with him and they worked out a payment plan for us so we didn't have to pay for the whole surgery/ other medical expenses to go along with that all up front. Honestly, without Hempfield Animal Hospital being compassionate, kind and understanding I wouldn't have my dog today. I am sure there are many animal hospitals that don't allow people to do payment plans and would have left me with the only other option, putting my dog down. I am so grateful for them! I highly recommend them to anyone and their pets :-)

I'm not sure what happened here. We've brought out pets to Manheim Pike Veterinary for over 25…read moreyears, through good time and bad. We've trusted the doctors there with our precious friends for all that time but the compassionate, honest care we always experienced has been compromised. In the last year, we've brought two of our dear friends to the vet, ready to part ways due to their age and the health conditions they were experiencing, only to be talked out of doing the right thing to instead try some expensive treatment to prolong lives that were no longer what they deserved, only to have to return a day or so later to do what we'd been ready to do at the previous visit. It's like loosing them twice. Neither of them deserved an extension to their pain and suffering. This latest hurt is still fresh, but I don't know if I can trust anyone there again other than Dr. Steed. It's not about money, it's about treating the end of their lives with the gravity and dignity they deserved, rather than being fed false hopes for a hopeless situation.

My dog has Lyme disease and he has treated him at different times when my dog had flare ups and was in bad shape shape. My senior cat has kidney failure and I thought for sure he would not have made it a couple of times but the doctor is up to date on all aspects of treatment. The girls that work there are so sweet and personable. They really ad to the experience here. The down side here is the cost. I find them to be very pricey compared to other vets. They are also not flexible with payments. The connection with the old pocket book and reality is lost.

We took him to an emergency vet, and they unblock him kept him overnight and we picked him up the next day we were told to get a consult for a surgery to get his issue resolved, so he could Get relief and have a normal urination! We called several vets that couldn't do a pu surgery or was booked for weeks! Until we called colubia veterinarian clinic!! We called and they said they could do the surgery that day!! We were so happy, so we booked it and was told to be there at Columbia animal hospital no later than 11:30am and surgery would start at 12:00pm Got there and the vet gave my cat 3 injections and said the nurse did not know what she was talking about! This was dr Barlett! We were lied to and charged 346.00 out of our surgery money, for my cat to get blocked 2 days later I called Dr Barlett to let him know our cat is completely blocked again! And the nurse said he's in at 10:00am I will have him call you back when he comes in, well he never called!! I had to rush my cat back to the 24 hour pet emergency and put him through the pain of a manual emptying of his bladder! It was 2:45pm and I call columbia vet again to speak to Dr barlett!, he lied after the nurse said he would call inbetween his appointments but he never did! And he proceeded to tell me he just found out at 2:45 when I called for the 3rd time, but his nurse told him at 10:00am when he came in to work! This man is not the person you would trust to care for your pet! He siezed an opportunity to charge us for a bogus treatment he gave our cat! Instead of doing the surgery they agreed to do @12:00 noon the day I was rushed to have my cat there by 11:30! Just to be told he doesn't need a surgery! Meanwhile he gave him pain meds and sent us on our way! I wouldnt refer this place to anyone! At all They are only in it for a pay day!!!
